Full-Time American Sign Language Interpreter in India
Primary duties: This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for the right person. This position requires interpreting for Deaf executive/ owner in a large family business setting. Interpreter will also be interpreting for family gatherings, high profile social events and personal needs of the client. The ideal candidate is someone who can work in a wide variety of settings. We are seeking people with a willingness to adapt to a new cultural setting (foreign travel experience, experience living in another country, and/or working with a spoken language interpreter are highly encouraged). It also will require periodic travel around India. Certification is preferred, but not mandatory.
Qualifications:
• Interpret effectively both receptively and expressively
• Certification is preferred, but not required. Experience, open-minded/flexible attitude and willingness to adapt in a multi-lingual/cultural environment is key
• Valid US Passport required
• Ability to travel frequently within India as well as to other countries on occasion.
• Exhibit professionalism and demonstrated knowledge of business contexts, structure, and management with an ability to learn new business terms and models
• Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity of language, culture, religions, and geographical locations
• Embrace a high work-ethic and be flexible with schedule
• Able to live in India for one to two years
US-based Salary will be attractive and commensurate with skills and experiences.
