Willard and Maple Willard & Maple, the literary and fine arts magazine of Champlain College, is a student-run publication based out of the CCM Media Hub.

Join us as a student anytime 5:00-8:00 every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to become an editor of the magazine (no matter how long you're here)! Tuesday is our administrative day. Willard & Maple is a magazine with aspirations in the unique. Run solely on the souls of undergraduate students at Champlain College, the magazine's crew of below twenty editors engage in workshop sessions about every

piece and vote on acceptance. Voices are raised, tempers are tested, and words are thrown through the air in the drastic battle of the written word. Each issue, published annually, includes works of poetry and prose from all over the world. It is Willard & Maple’s prime objective to preserve the tradition of the written word, and print quality anthologies that artfully represent the work within. It is the Champlain community’s offering into the global body of creative work, and reveling in that bliss. The Willard & Maple office is not a traditional college-magazine workplace. Students completely take charge of the editorial process, and the review board for submissions is entirely comprised of young writers. Nobody’s here to pour coffee and punch copy. Willard & Maple was first published in 1996, and is now celebrating their 20th anniversary.

Join us and Sustain Champlain for a planet poetry event Friday March 31 at 5-7pm in the fireside lounge!
Bring a poem, song, or prose to share and you can be entered in a raffle for some cool prizes!! Or just come to chill, listen, and have some snacks!

The submission deadline for this year’s magazine is closely approaching!! The submission page will close on December 31st. We would love to see your written and visual art works, head to the link in our bio to submit!!

The prompt for this weekend’s creator’s jam is… ROT!
You have until this Sunday, 10/30 at 4:30pm to create and submit your work! You may interpret the prompt whichever way inspiration takes you and work in any creative medium you choose.

to submit we will post a link on our story to a Google form later today, that will be posted again tomorrow and Sunday.

We will also be announcing the guest judges we have for this jam so stay tuned for another post with more info on that!

This upcoming weekend Willard and Maple will be running a 48 hour creator’s jam!!! But what does that mean? Why should we be interested? I’m glad you asked!
~
On Friday 10/28 at 4:30pm we will be sharing a single word prompt here on instagram. You will have 48 hours to create a piece in whichever medium you choose that is inspired by the prompt. You will have until 4:30pm on Sunday 10/30 to submit your work to us through the form we will have linked on our instagram story. We also have some guest Champlain faculty judges who will be announced in the next few days!

To summarize:
When: Friday 10/28 4:30pm-Sunday 10/30 4:30pm
Where: here on instagram
What: any creative medium you want
Why: have fun, make art, get creative, and challenge yourself!

We have opened submissions for the fall semester!!!

Follow the link in our bio to navigate to our submissions page where you can send in your work. We accept all sorts of writing and visual art works so send your short stories, poetry, prose, drawings, paintings, and photography our way. If you can put it in a book we want it!

The prompt for our 3/4-3/6 creator’s jam is… GUTS!!
Starting from 3pm today, you have 48 hours to create a work of art (writing, prose, sculpture, painting, etc.) around this theme and you may interpret the theme however you choose. Be sure to submit your work by 3pm sunday 3/6.

After the weekend we’ll be hosting an informal showcase of all the submissions to celebrate the work of Champlain’s wonderful artists! So stay tuned for news on that :)

With the kickoff of W&M this year, we wanted to inspire artists to be brave with your work and unafraid to take chances. The Champlain community of artists is a force to be reckoned with, and we are so excited to see what you all come up with. Have fun creating!!

This weekend Willard and Maple will be hosting a 48 hour creators jam for Champlain College students!! We will be sharing the prompt here on our instagram on Friday 3/4 at 3pm. But if you would prefer to be emailed the prompt, fill out the google form linked on our story.
You will have 48 hours to create and submit any artwork (written or visual), based on the prompt Given on Friday and the event will end on Sunday at 3pm.

We look forward to seeing what you all come up with and plan to schedule a short virtual celebration and relaxed showcase of your work to give you all a chance to share what you created!

The submissions deadline for Willard and Maple has been moved back to April 1, 2022, so that we can gather more submissions over this semester. Follow the link in our bio to navigate to our submissions page where you can send in your poetry, prose, and visual art!! Looking forward to seeing what wonderful works you’ve all made.

We’ll also be hosting some fun creative activities for you all to participate in to create and share some of your beautiful brain’s works in the meantime, so stay tuned!!
