Big Talbot Island State Park is a hiking/biking paradise! Add these trails to your :
🥾 Blackrock Trail: A 1-mile out-and-back trail that leads through a maritime forest with live oaks, pines and saw palmettos to Driftwood Beach, a one-of-a-kind destination covered with black rocklike formations and driftwood.
🥾 Shoreline Trail: Access this trail from the Bluffs parking area and head to Boneyard Beach, where sun-bleached trees create a striking scene.
🥾 Timucuan Trail: Spans 3 miles and features paved and boardwalk sections. If you start at the park’s north end at the mouth of Nassau Sound, check out the boardwalk overlooking Spoonbill Pond, a premier birding location in the region. 🦅🦉🐦

1/11 - Severe weather remains possible across the area tomorrow (Friday 1/12) with damaging winds, tornadoes, and hail all possible. Rain chances will increase through the morning, but the best window for severe weather occurs during the daytime Friday.
While this system could be impactful for some, there is much lower confidence than with the last system on Tuesday. Nevertheless, please keep up with the latest forecasts and have multiple ways to get warnings.

Heads-up, Floridians‼️ A new state law gives you the first chance to make camping reservations at . You can now book campsites and cabins — including RV, tent, boat and equestrian sites — up to 11 months in advance. That’s one month before nonresidents.
Which state park are you going to choose first to make reservations?

Who are we?
I decided to start Discover Apalachee Bay because I am attracted to the beauty that North Florida offers. When people think about Florida as a whole, their first thoughts are usually swamps, beaches, or Miami. Each ‘region’ offers its own amazing beauty.
I happen to be from the part considered ‘swamps’, but it is a gorgeous area and surrounding it are amazing bays, flowing rivers, and white-sand beaches that are sometimes forgotten. In fact, the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce has trademarked some of this region as the “Forgotten Coast” since the early 1990s.
My hope in starting this page is to simply share with you - the curious viewer, the avid adventurer, the casual discoverer - the images and videos that I feel represent the true beauty of our Florida Panhandle, Big Bend, Forgotten Coast, and Nature Coast. Many of my pictures and videos will extend outside of the quaint Apalachee Bay, but I have chosen this in my title because it is the least known, and yet offers much to see.
I hope you enjoy! And thank you for visiting. I heavily support our Florida State Parks, which offer some of the most beautiful sights you can see while here.
Below is a link to their website where you can learn more about what Florida state parks have to offer. Note: Florida State Parks is not affiliated with my page - I simply am an avid supporter.
