Wichita!!!

This is a follow-up post to our trip to Wichita Falls for the . It was highlighted by the opportunity to caddy for Crash, but it was also special because of the ol’ friends we reconnected with and the chance to walk down memory lane at .

Highlights…

• Crash and I spent one morning with one my favorite people on planet Earth - . This woman had a profound impact on my life. We shared funny stories and caught up over a cup of coffee. I loved that Crash and Barb got to meet.

• On Day 2 of the TO, stepped up and caddied for Crash. Jase is a golfer, and I had the honor and pleasure to work with him for a while. I’ve known his folks for a long time, and I enjoyed our time working together on the mental side of golf. I was grateful for Jase stepping up and being there for Crash during the golf tournament.

• On my last night in Wichita, I did one of my workouts walking around Midwestern. It has been more than 30 years since I first stepped foot on the MSU campus. And while it’s changed so much, it’s still eerily the same. While I was doing my 45-minute walk, I thought about all the wonderfully great moments and the amazing friendships I had during my time at .

I’m sure Crash will play in the again, and I hope I continue to have nostalgic moments like this over the next couple years.

Caddy Shack!

I marked No. 11 of my new Life List today. I got the honor and privilege to caddy for my son in a tournament. I carried his golf bag for 18 holes at the in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Really, the only thing to say about this …

Today was incredible! Absolutely, without-a-doubt, one of my all-time favorite things to EVER mark off any of my Life Lists. It was so special to me, in so many ways.

Shot in the dark!

Crash’s best friend - - loves to take photos. Sky has gotten really good! He recently captured these images of Crash on the baseball field. I had to share and give him some props.

Leadership Burleson!

I have the honor and privilege to play a small role in Leadership Burleson again this year. It will be my third year to add a personal development component to this impactful program. Today, was the Team Building Retreat at .

My portion: I stressed the importance of making themselves a priority so they can be a light for the world around them. I also facilitated DISC assessment through .

It’s going to be a wonderfully great class. Thanks to and Burleson EDC for allowing me to pour into their community leaders.

Next Level!

Today, one of my very first coaching clients - - signed his National Letter of Intent to play collegiate golf at .

I couldn’t be more proud of this young man. He worked his butt off to make this dream a reality. The team got a good one!

I feel very honored and blessed that I got the chance to play very small role in his high school golf career. I remember the first time I met Andrew. I said, “I can’t help you be a better golfer - I suck at golf - but I CAN help you on the mental side of the game.”

Capitol Gains!

I made a quick trip to Austin to record part of a podcast episode for . I got the honor and privilege to have a conversation with Rep. Shelby Slawson, HD 59. Our discussion item: Her role in helping Granbury, Texas, being recognized as the “Celebration Capital of Texas.” I thoroughly enjoyed my engaging conversation with .

This episode of Uniquely Granbury will be released soon.

Reminder: On this community podcast, we celebrate the events, venues, history and people that make special.

Friends Forever!

This is my longtime friend . She introduced me to this profound concept: “People come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime.” I’m starting to realize that this incredible woman is a “lifer.” I’m stuck with her.

Today, we got the chance to catch up. It’s been a few years since we’ve seen each other. We both agreed that it had been too long. We gave each other our life updates, reminisced about our wildly popular (and over-the-top funny) podcast AND decided to release a handful of new episodes, discussing those before-mentioned updates and sharing some significant milestones.

Long story short … we’re getting the band back together for a short reunion tour. Let’s ride!

Stay tuned and buckle up!

Turn Up the Volume!

I’m grateful for my recent (and my upcoming) speaking gigs. It’s been a great transition into 2025, and I’m determined to build on this momentum. Proposals continue to be submitted. Discovery calls are being set up. Again … I’m grateful for every single opportunity, and I’m excited to see what other doors God opens for me.

I’m really excited to be back on stage at Adolescent Symposium for . I’ll be delivering a keynote address and doing a fireside chat with . It’s going to be an impactful two days.

Off and Running!

I recently facilitated my first workshop of 2025. I had the honor and privilege to lead the Personal and Leadership Development Workshop for .

Highlights included a keynote, reminding the group about the importance of self-care, self-love and self-compassion … DISC assessment through … neurograohic art, an out-of-the-box activity where we turn our head trash into something beautiful.

A HUGE thanks to .chalmers for giving me the opportunity to pour into the leadership of . When I submitted my proposal for the retreat, I stressed my mission/vision to ignite a ripple effect across the company - and let those ripple effects indirectly impact the families they bless everyday. I hope I accomplished that goal.

One more huge shoutout … to the staff at . They went above and beyond to make my portion of the retreat impactful. Wildcatter Ranch and Resort is a super cool venue if you’re looking to get out of dodge and pour into YOUR people.

Stay tuned … more cool speaking and coaching events coming up in 2025.

Word of the Year!

Instead of New Year’s resolutions, I opt to choose a word to focus on throughout the year. It took me a little longer to pick my word for 2025, but I’m finally committing to the shot. (I’m encouraging my coaching clients to do the same thing this year; they have embraced it with both arms.)

My word for 2025 is “AUDACIOUS” with a big, wonderfully great asterisk, which reminds me to focus on God-inspired audacity. Author Steve Farber changed my life with his concept of “love-inspired audacity.” I’m taking this to another level this year.

What is “God-inspired audacity”? It refers to a boldness and courage that is anchored in faith. It suggests getting out of your own way and stepping out on that limb of uncertainty with confidence. It’s about trusting God’s power, purpose and promises. It’s reminding yourself that God is walking beside you, willing and ready to carry you when you need Him to.

After a quick Google search, I found this powerful explanation of God-inspired audacity: This concept often resonates in moments when individuals take leaps of faith, overcome fear, or challenge norms to pursue a calling or vision they believe is inspired by God. It can be seen in stories of biblical figures like David facing Goliath, Moses leading the Israelites, or Peter walking on water.”

Happy New Year!
