The Asian community in Chinatown may be signaling shifting political opinions in San Francisco.
"We only want to have a safe city and safe state," Resident Winky Toy told CBS San Francisco. "So I can see there's a tremendous attitude change. People are willing to come out to change."
In addition to a significant swing toward Donald Trump in last fall’s presidential election, San Francisco’s Republican Party has reported a huge swell in GOP registrations of people from Asian countries since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Former Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao is maintaining her innocence after surrendering to corruption charges at the Oakland federal courthouse on Friday.
The recalled mayor joined attorney Jeff Tsai outside of the courthouse following her arraignment as he provided a statement denouncing accusations that Thao orchestrated a bribery scheme with her boyfriend and two members of the politically influential Duong family.
