“Jaago” is a lively and traditional pre-wedding ceremony celebrated the night before the wedding. Friends and family members gather at the bride’s or groom’s home and carry decorated pots on their heads, illuminated with oil lamps. They sing Punjabi folk songs called “boliyan” and perform “gidda”, while celebrating the excitement and anticipation of the wedding day.

This is probably one of the best outfits I have designed myself. The minute I saw this brocade fabric, I knew I had to use it for one of the wedding outfits! I didn’t want to do a traditional kurta and bundi for the mehendi and instead went for an open bandhgala layered over a short kurta in gold tissue fabric ✨
