You guys have been asking me about my car hunting. Here’s what’s happening 🫠. I’ve been fascinated with EV’s since 2017 (swipe for evidence 😂) ever since I worked with Liv Bank to promote their Tesla giveaway! I had the car for a day & let’s just say I was in love. I would defo not say I’m a car geek, but technology in general does fascinate me! Then I was invited by AXL for their EV Launch a few months ago, and everything from the specs, to even how EV’s are designed, just excites me 😭 With all the car shopping past few days, I concluded on an EV (a detailed post on which, later 😂). To my surprise my building is now creating issues to install a charger and I’m fighting back, cuz their excuses are pathetic. I then concluded with my fam that I won’t get an EV, and now I think I want it again. I hate regrets!!! I keep debating in my head what I want?! Should I really let a 6 year dream just slide (provided my building approves it), or think of other factors and convenience that other cars provide?! 😭 I meet a mix of people, ones who think Electric Cars have changed their life, and others who regret it due to “range anxiety”, or not having a charger.

Life comes in full circle 🧿♥️ when I just started my by-fluke blogging journey end of 2015, I got invited by the Milan Tourism Board for an all-inclusive Milan Food Tour ✈️ Only 3 influencers in the region got chosen for this, and was my first ever (that too in Italy 😭) 🇮🇹 I’m not sure how I got a leave from IBM as well as I just got assigned to a new project. It was my first trip & I teared up in flight, as it was a seat I could never afford or imagine sitting on. When a plate of shrimps veggie + wine got served to me I asked myself “Wow Naomi what did you actually to deserve this treatment?” 🙈😂😭 I still remember entering my exquisite room at , my first complimentary staycation, and seeing fruits & dates on my bed. I didn’t know what to do with it so I just slept on the bed and took a selfie with it 😂🙈 This Milan trip had so many firsts that paved a path to more opportunities for me. FFWD 7 years later (a lucky number indeed) I’ve been invited again to Milan to , the leading trade fair dedicated to the world of Foodservice and Hospitality, as a 🥹 The 43rd biennial Host Milano event will be held mid-October 💙💚 I’m super excited to visit Milan again. It will definitely bring back so many memories ☺️ for more!

Do you know how many messages I’ve gotten saying my page is boring or that people used to follow me for food only & they announce to me they’re unfollowing me? Many 😶 I guess it’s time to address THIS 🫠

I did not get into blogging intentionally. 6y ago I was posting desserts in a similar fashion how you’d share vacation pics online, by fluke my page gained popularity. It’s also the best fluke of my life that I’ll always be grateful for 😂 I have my MSc in Oil & Gas, studied engineering, then moved to Tech, then Media. I never knew I’d be coined a food blogger, neither am I a food critic. I’m just a girl who loves food, who grew a page from personal interests.

As years went by, I did grow my page, but just how I try rando Amazon products, I also tried food (a LOT)! There was a time where I visited 10 restaurants a week. What a lot of food bloggers won’t tell you are the irreversible health issues that comes with it. I had to make a decision to tone it down. Although I used to post a lot of food in the past, I have been more mindful of what I’m posting now. 1 reason is, I feel you guys resonate with my actual life a lot more. 2nd; in this day and age, and how the social media landscape has evolved, I believe posting anything and everything depletes the trust you have in me. If I say everything is great you won’t trust me & I’m guilty I did it in the past. There’s also another side; people can’t openly say they hated something cuz it goes against the Defamation Laws of UAE. You could just say I hated that kebab & the resto can sue 😂

I also believe there’re WAY better food bloggers in me, but I do believe I’m still the best with judging desserts 😂 I will always hold the coveted OG Dessert Queen of Dubai title 🙊👸🏻 But I also do apologize cuz I never knew how many people got ‘bored’ of my page simply cuz I’ve changed my strategy ♥️

Thanks for letting me, but I also feel bad NGL. I’ve changed 🥺 I’m an entrepreneur, I’ve had life changing moments past few years, I believe I hold a lot of knowledge, I have a very funny mother, a husband I love to annoy, and I don’t want to just post food ♥️

One day you get 1M views, and another day you can’t even crack a 10k. A random hotchocolate video racked me 5M views but a video that took 7h of production 3h of editing struggled to get a 15k. Meta Business Manager changes everyday, and it really questions everyone’s sanity with the craziest UI/UX. Clients question why a post isn’t performing, and you have no response. Campaigns even if they’ve performed badly influencers are forced to buy likes, and views. Why? Because now we’re all judged by a solid number instead of the quality of content, or respect earned over the years. Engagement pods are huge due to this very reason and the fast-paced life of just a DM ‘share’ is always opted over a comment. Some say it’s the demographics, some say you’re probably not putting enough foolish content or some even talk about the timing of the posts. But do we actually know? Is it luck?
We live in a social media generation where if you don’t conform you’re kicked out - I don’t say this lightly 😶 and it takes a tough heart, and extreme thick skin to not do what others do, or at times, you just cave in. The morality police will also resign.
There’s ofcourse no solution to this I guess but I just wanted to pour my heart out 🫠

Honored to be felicitated as the Most Influential Women at the Women’s Global Conference organized by by Her Excellency Halima Al Sayegh, Habiba Al Marashi, Shiba Khan, and Farah Khan 🙏🏽 I even had the opportunity to be in an insightful panel conversation on how Innovation and Technology helps with and hear inspiring women speak about their journey ♥️ .eng.suaadalshamsi and many more 🙏🏽 Thank you so much for having me ☺️

In my panel we spoke about multiple things around how has the potential to significantly contribute to and help women. It creates new opportunities, removes any systemic barriers, and increases access to resources and information. In summary technology has,
• Increased access to education, particularly in developing countries
• Reduced gender-based violence. E.g., apps can be used to report harassment or violence, and can provide confidential and accessible support to survivors.
• Promoting : E.g., data analytics tools can be used to analyze pay disparities across different departments, identify patterns, and provide recommendations for addressing any discrepancies.
• Increasing women's participation in fields.
• Enabling flexible work arrangements like remote work, and telecommuting.

However, it's important to recognize that technology alone cannot solve gender inequality. It must be combined with policy, education, and cultural changes to create lasting change 🙌🏽
