Happy International Women’s Day to Carrie Nahabedian, a true pioneer chef! 🌟

Originally from Chicago’s northern suburbs, Chef Carrie began her culinary journey as a teenager at the Ritz Carlton. From there, she’s soared through esteemed kitchens like Le Perroquet, Jovan, and Le Francais, eventually landing as Executive Chef at the Four Seasons Hotels in Chicago, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles.

Her remarkable career boasts a Michelin Star for seven consecutive years, a James Beard Award for “Best Chef, Great Lakes”, and a stellar four-star rating from renowned Chicago Tribune critic, Phil Vettel.

In honor of her exceptional contributions, Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley proclaimed September 22, 2009, as “Carrie Nahabedian Day”. Additionally, she’s been inducted into the Chicago Chefs Hall of Fame and honored with the Jean Banchet Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. Cheers to Chef Carrie for her outstanding achievements!

It's still sinking in, but it's true.

We were selected by The Conservation Fund's Working Farms Fund and we signed a lease for this beautiful 30 acre property in Elburn.

The good news is the property will go into a conservation easement and forever remain open farmland.

We see Waygu beef, goat dairy, farm dinners, wood fired pizza, and lots more Certified Naturally Grown vegetables in all our futures.

Thank you to The Conservation Fund for making this happen for us and all of Kane County.

Footnote: Teddy and Bear will not be moving from Rustic Road Farm and neither are the markets!

Hello community gardeners. Consider adding this free material to your compost piles: Coffee grounds! Many neighborhood Starbucks stores make it available free of charge. Lots of good nitrogen for your compost; they also have some amount of other nutrients like potassium and phosphorous, and with the additional benefit: rats do not like it it all.
