Agricultural communities are drying up fast, wildlife is suffering, and endangered fish populations are not improving.

The Diamond Complex on the Umpqua National Forest consists of 27 lightning-caused fires totaling approximately 6,315 acres, with 513 people assigned. The containment percentages vary per fire. Resources are shared with the Middle Fork Fire, which is also being managed by the Northern Rockies CIMT3. The Middle Fork Fire in the northwest corner of Crater Lake National Park has 30 people assigned. Crater Lake National Park remains open.

Klamath County's biggest summer event continues at the Fairgrounds.

On Friday, thousands braved the threatening weather and found a day full of entertainment, exhibits, projects, and family fun.

All year, 4-H and FFA students work on animal projects to achieve their dream of making the Championship Drive and winning top honors. Yesterday, eight youths were granted the ultimate title of Champion and Reserve Champion.

Good Saturday Morning from the 2024 Klamath County Fair. Today is full of exciting opportunities for you to explore.

The fair runs from 10 AM to 11 PM today.

Small animals, swine, goats, and beef all show today starting at 10 AM

Today, there are three stages of entertainment to choose from. On those stages, you can find The June Bugs, Racyne Parker, Magician Jeff Martin, 1 in the Chamber, Huckleberry Road, Molly’s Adventure, and Clay and the Southpaw Band.

The exciting Wold Amusements Carnival will open at noon today.

At 3:30 PM is the Alternative Stockshow Classic in the swine barn. The always entertaining Round Robin will be at 5:00 PM

Billy Currington takes the Event Center stage tonight at 7:30 PM (doors open at 6:30). As of this morning, only a few tickets remain. Do not wait until the last minute to get tickets, it might just sell out tonight. Get official tickets at klamathcofair.com

Also, do not forget about the Foam Party Explosion at 7:30 PM tonight.

The 2024 Klamath County Fairgrounds opened yesterday, drawing thousands of community members for a day of fun and entertainment. The highlight was an energetic performance by Yung Gravy on the Event Center stage, which excited the crowd.

Throughout the day, visitors enjoyed carnival rides, indulged in delicious food, shopped with vendors, viewed exhibits, and watched 4-H and FFA youth showcase their projects.

Today marks the second day of the 2024 Klamath County Fair. It is a very busy day for Klamath County 4-H and FFA exhibitors show their market-class projects today.

Gates to the fair are open today from noon to 11:00 PM.

Carnival will open at 4:00 PM

Insanity Fest 2024 will be thrilling spectators in the outdoor arena starting at 7:00 PM (Doors open at 6:00 PM)

Pecos and the Rooftops will rock the Event Center tonight starting at 7:30 PM (Doors open at 6:30 PM)

Tonight: There is a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11:00 PM as monsoonal moisture works north. The haze will continue with areas of smoke after midnight. It will be mostly cloudy, with a low of around 67. The wind will be northwest at 5 to 9 mph.

Saturday: There is a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11:00 AM. Widespread haze is expected throughout the day. It is mostly cloudy, with a high near 91. Today is the opening day of the 2024 Klamath County Fair. Showings of goats and poultry have begun this morning, with the gates officially opening at noon. Check out the schedule for a rundown of today's activities, including Yung Gravy in concert on the main stage at 7:30 p.m.

🚨 DEVELOPING - KFPD investigating a shooting at Klamath Union

The Klamath Falls Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred earlier this afternoon at Klamath Union High School near Modoc Field.

KFPD reports, "At this time, the suspect is not in custody, and we have reason to believe there is no threat to the public. Due to this being an ongoing investigation, we have no further information to release to the public at this time."

At 4:00 PM, the Klamath Falls City Schools stated on their page:

A tragic shooting took place on the bridge at Modoc Field today. One of our parents attending a youth soccer camp at Klamath Union was shot and injured. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.

All students and staff on campus were placed on lockdown. We have no injuries to staff and students to report at this time.

KFN is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as soon as they are available.

KFPD asks - anyone with information regarding the shooting incident should contact Detective Brandon Witmer, 541-883-5336.

On July 27, 2024, at approximately 12:12 p.m., Klamath 9-1-1 Communication District received a call from a woman reporting she had been taken from outside of Eugene, Oregon by a man named Troy.

They were at Walmart, and she had fled from him and was currently hiding behind the location. She provided a vehicle description for the vehicle they arrived in, and she described what she was wearing to the call taker so officers could locate her.

The Oregon Department of Forestry has ordered four hand crews through the Oregon National Guard.

The four hand crews are comprised of 92 personnel: 22 firefighters per crew, two liaisons and two support personnel. Two of the crews will be staffed by Air Guard members and two will be staffed with Army Guard members.
