Rob Redman had a great night's fly fishing on the north west coast of Wales including this bass estimated between 5lb-8lb. The flies used where a mix of bait fish, shrimp imitations and surface lures.

Following on from a 65cm fish during the early hours of Thursday morning and a superb days fishing with Seeker Sportfishing on Friday (a day I highly recommended to any avid Bass angler) I managed to secure a seasons PB this morning! Not quite 70cm but a lovely fish all the same. I’m still holding out for a 70cm this season, there’s certainly still time!
The ever so consistent Keitech swing impact fat was the successful lure and my trusty Apia Foojin RS Art Magic once again a joy to use!

When you wait for a new PB and then two come along in a short period of time. Mark Dennis from the Isle of Man managed to smash his PB twice in two days. Fishing with our HTO Nebula bass fishing rod, Mark broke PB number one with a fine fish of 72 cm. The very next day, he smashed that with a second fish of 80 cm! He commented, “the extra fast action of the Nebula was perfect for casting 30g pencil lures in gusting winds. These two fish, two of several good-sized fish through the week, tested the durability of the tackle to the max.” Thanks for sharing, Mark!

🚀

Good luck to all the lads competing in the Jersey bass festival.

And to anyone taking part in general. Been a great year for bass in my opinion, so hopefully someone we know catches a decent 70 plus fish. or a big one comes up!

No fish is worth your life though, so be safe, be careful but most of all smile! Fishing is about enjoying it, laughs with your mates and taking part.

All the best all 🎣

Fun comp! Leave a comment below on the longest bass you recon will win (bait and lure) and whoever gets closest wins absolutely nothing 😂 🥰

The Bass were calling me again last night! I went to bed early and set my alarm for 23:50. After waking I took the 20 minute drive to my chosen location. The tide was at a perfect state and after only a few casts the first fish was hooked on a 3.3” soft plastic, a Bass over 50cm. This fish was placed in a rock pool as I wanted to carry on casting as quickly as possible as I knew other fish could be running through the area. 3 casts later another fish was hooked which felt much heavier, a respectable Bass of 65cm, my 2nd largest fish from this spot. After taking a few snaps I headed home and back to bed ready to wake again at 06:00 for work! Hopefully I’ll get a good few hours sleep tonight as I’m out all day tomorrow back on the Bass!

Most of my bass paintings have been attempts to portray them in their own habitat rather than in a more illustrative style like this commission from a few years ago. This was a life sized piece for a French client based on a large specimen he'd caught. I enjoyed the process, and if I didn't have so many other projects to get my teeth into would probably do more...
