❓✨ Do you know who the Nereids are?
In Greek mythology they were sea nymphs, protectors of sailors and guardians of the oceans. 🌊
Today their name lives on in Nereid, the new 3D printed artificial reef by Zaha Hadid Architects, created with D-Shape and HKSTP for Hong Kong’s Marine Park. 🐬
With kelp-inspired forms and a low-carbon concrete mix, this project will provide shelter for marine species and help protect the critically endangered Chinese White Dolphin.
A story where design, technology and nature come together to defend biodiversity. 🌍✨

Some might not have realized it yet, but creating 3D models—whether for virtual worlds like gaming or for physical use in 3D printing—has recently become a heck of a lot more accessible. This shift is driven by a new wave of AI applications that can transform text prompts or 2D images into fully developed 3D models. One of the fastest-growing companies in this space is VAST, founded by Simon Song, which is making the creation of 3D products easier than ever through Tripo AI.

From Vienna’s 3D foodtech to our kitchen table 🍴✨
We tried Juicy Marbles’ Thick Cut Filet in a classic Italian recipe: filet in green peppercorn sauce. The result? Dense, tender, and surprisingly meaty.
✨ Recipe (2 portions):
2 Juicy Marbles Thick Cut Filets
30 g green peppercorns in brine
100 g cooking cream
50 g Dijon mustard
120 g broth
30 g brandy
40 g clarified butter
Flour + salt
👉 Lightly flour & sear filets in butter, flame with brandy, then simmer with mustard, cream, broth & peppercorns. Reduce sauce, coat the filets generously, and serve.
Would you try 3D printed steak?”

Between the buzz around Apple’s latest products – which include components made with – and LEGO’s big reveal, it’s been a stunning week for consumer additive manufacturing.
LEGO has just unveiled its first mass-produced 3D printed piece, part of the festive Holiday Express Train set 🚂🎄. Manufactured with EOS’ Fine Detail Resolution technology, this element is a true milestone, showing how AM is moving from prototyping to mass adoption in consumer products.
🎁 This holiday season, 3D printing won’t just be behind the scenes – it’ll be under the tree.

🧠✨ 3D printing meets healing
Researchers at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities have created 3D printed scaffolds that guide stem cells to regrow nerve fibers across severed spinal cords.
In animal studies, this breakthrough led to new neural connections and functional recovery.
It’s early-stage, but a powerful reminder that additive manufacturing can also mean hope.

⚓ Exploring the seas with Additive Manufacturing 🌊
From 3D printed boat hulls and electric abras to yacht superstructures and corrosion-resistant metal alloys, the maritime sector is steadily embracing additive manufacturing as a tool for innovation.
Whether it’s reducing lead times for critical submarine parts with EOS CopperAlloy CuNi30, building fully recyclable HDPE workboats, or creating complex yacht components without molds, AM is proving its value in one of the most demanding environments on Earth.
These projects show how design freedom, on-demand production and sustainable materials can redefine what’s possible, from defense applications to commercial vessels and luxury yachts.
📌 We’ve gathered some of our recent maritime AM stories so you can dive deeper into this growing segment.

💓 A new way to heal a broken heart
Scientists at ETH Zurich have 3D printed a heart patch that doesn’t just repair, it regenerates.
Made with living heart cells, it integrates with the heart and disappears once the job is done.

This could change how we treat heart damage forever.

📹 Watch how it works.

For his final-year project at Central Saint Martins, Noé Chouraqui designed POINT, a 3D printed tennis ball made from high-resilience PLA that cuts material waste by up to 90%.
Tested to bounce and perform like the real thing, POINT could be the start of a more sustainable future for the sport.

Now under review by the International Tennis Federation, this innovation shows how design and additive manufacturing can serve both performance and the planet. 🌍🎾

QR3D is Singapore’s first multi-story 3D printed house.
Not a prototype. A real home, designed and lived in by the architect himself.

Built with 90% printed concrete, the structure uses layered walls as a visual element, ribbon windows for controlled daylight, and a central oculus that moves air and light through the space.

A project that shows how 3D printing can serve architecture, not just construction.
And a sign of where urban housing might go next.
