Psychoanalytic Theory is the one formulated by Sigmund Freud. He defines personality development through three different levels or structures: Id, Ego and Superego. Id is the unconscious, instinctual pleasure principle that can satisfy the needs of the individual. It involves immediate satisfaction. Ego is like a growing child.
