Traci Park, along with Heather Hutt, Tim McOsker, John Lee and Hugo Soto-Martinez, co-authored a resolution opposing the merger, saying at a press conference last week that they are "sending a clear message to the city's federal partners that L.A. is 'unequivocally opposed' to the merger between Albertsons and Kroger." They said the proposed merger is anti-competitive, would lead to higher prices and would undermine workers and communities across L.A.

Five Los Angeles City Council members plan to introduce a resolution Friday intended to formalize the city’s position against a proposed mega-merger of grocery giants, which would impact 579 stores including 63 locations in California.

The CIRCLE pilot program has just been expanded to all of Westchester. CIRCLE stands for Crisis & Incident Response through Community-Led Engagement. This program is a 24/7 unarmed response program that deploys a trained team to address non-urgent LAPD calls related to unhoused individuals.

This program was tested in a 2-1/2 year pilot program with Venice being part of the program. They know a few things about unhoused individuals in Venice. Access CIRCLE by calling the non-emergency police line - 877-ASK-LAPD (877-275-5273) and selecting the "non-emergency dispatch" option.

Make sure you're following the sewer rate proposal. If passed, our rates will double over the course of the next four years. Yes, we need to invest in our infrastructure, but mark my words, they are also planning ahead for a lot of new housing units mandated by the state that we don't need.

Residents should start seeing outreach mailers in their mailboxes the first week of July, which will contain information about 2 upcoming Zoom webinars about proposed sewer rate increases. The first webinar will be on Saturday, Jul 20, 2024 at 9:30 A.M. The second webinar will be on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 6:00 P.M.

Before we lose the store, the merger has to be approved. An earlier attempt was blocked. And if approved, the store will be acquired by another grocery operator (C&S), but I looked at their website and I'm not seeing an obvious brand for our neighborhood. There is every possibility we could end up with something nicer than what we have, but I'm not seeing that path on the C&S website.

A merger between two grocery giants could lead to the sale of many Vons stores in California. One in Westchester has served as a gathering place for the community since 1952.

Fostering can be done on your timeline--short or long term. The goal is to get dogs outta JP and into a home so we can gather notes on their personality and behavior to pass along to future adopters. It doesn't hurt if you happen to get some really cute pictures and video while you're at it!
