We are currently working on an article talking about crime & safety in Swansea. With the recent Daily Mail article as well as the countless Facebook posts students have made, we feel that people should speak up about their experiences living here in Swansea and whether they feel safe, which areas they tend to avoid, and what should be done about vandalism and other crimes.

Thank you to those who shared our first official piece which has gained a lot of traction as well as generating a discussion. We have more projects in the works so look out for them and thank you to those who have posted more submissions. Currently we are in the process of writing a review of the gyms in Swansea and we would most appreciate it if students got involved to share their thoughts on which gym they have a membership with, what they use it for, recommendations, etc. It can be any gym or leisure centre in Swansea!

Another article we are working on due to recent submissions is on Swansea transport, more specifically, the bus services so feel free to give us your thoughts either anonymously or not.

We are glad to see that Swanpress has already garnered so much support.

We have already been contacted on how to submit pieces to us here and we have set up several ways to get in contact with us either anonymously or not.

You can submit straight to us via messenger (As set out in rule 7). Here we will assign you an pseudonym to write under so that you can remain anonymous.

Alternatively, we have set up a CrushNinja for you to submit articles and such to anonymously; be sure to use a false name as well and to use this name when we converse elsewhere. You can also correspond with us anonymously through https://tlk.io/swanpress. This is one of the ways for us to talk with those that have posted via CrushNinja about articles that need slight revisions. Be mindful that this chat is public so do not disclose personal information here and instead contact us via email or messenger to talk about your piece privately. You can also use this chat to direct any criticisms or issues you have with us. ;)

The Ten Commandments of Swanpress:

1. No personal attacks of individuals – this is not a platform for that.
2. Political rhetoric is acceptable, as long as it has the objective of starting a discourse or expressing civil views.
3. Criticism is allowed here, just make sure that it is constructive and well-founded. That goes for any topics you may want to write about or if you have problems with the way we run the page.
4. When you send a piece in, we review it and submit it as long as it adheres to our rules. If it does not, we will ask you to edit it before resending it or we can edit it ourselves.
5. Unless you ask otherwise, you piece will remain anonymous to readers.
6. We are mostly looking for articles related to Swansea student life however we are more than happy to include pieces on other topics if they are interesting.
7. All pieces must be submitted in Word, pdf or text format; not copying big paragraphs into messenger. This does not apply to Crushninja posts. Furthermore, articles will be subject to flexible word counts depending on how much you would like to say on the topic.
8. We will fact check your pieces to the best of our ability but please try to submit only truths when writing objective pieces.
9. Try to be objective when writing your articles; we are presenting news, not uncorroborated opinion pieces so make sure to have sound evidence to support your claims. Naturally you can give your personal opinions when writing reviews.
10. Lastly, remember that Swanpress is all about what you make it. We don’t just report the news, you can publish anything you want from reviews to guides.
