Godiva Sterling is the youngest daughter of the Sterling Dynasty and a fierce performer backed by years of theatre and performance training. She is dramatic, theatrical, fashionable, bold, and most of all C**T! A recent Winner of Martini’s Lip Sync Competition, Euphoria’s Runway Competition, and background dancer for the former Mr. Capital Pride DC 2023(Xavier Sterling). She recently won Miss Scorpio at Freddie’s Beach Bar as part of Mr, Miss, Mx. Freddie’s Zodiac 2024. Join us for the Black Theatre and Dance Symposium (BTDS) 2024 on Saturday, May 4! The theme of this year's BTDS is “ROOT WORK: Embracing and Honoring Unconventional Pathways to Performance,” celebrating the rich roots and tapestry of Black storytelling and performance, with dynamic speakers, conversations and workshops. 
The symposium coincides with the second night of UMoves: Undergraduate Dance Concert on Saturday, May 4, at 7 pm.

Expert panelists will talk about their history in the scene as well as their personal and curated movement language. Following that brief introduction, our panelist will do a short demo of their skills. Questions are encouraged!

STRUT: Open to any and all levels of skill. Join us for a mock vogue ball with a theme Rooted around LEGENDS, ICONS and STARS. All are invited to participate no matter your dance experience. The event will begin with a panel discussion between the community and active members of the vogue culture. The panelists will also give a demo of their movement language. Those who participate in the mock ball are encouraged to honor the roots and inspirations of Vogue culture. This could mean dressing like a pioneer, honoring the fashion, incorporating the movement and being able to practice your movement in a safe, low pressure style ball. Winners will receive complimentary tickets to the 7:30pm UMoves dance production. Show us what you’ve got!

Ballroom On Film

Ballroom On Film is a review and multicultural discussion examining media from the Ballroom Scene and the transformative role of LGBT+ artists in contemporary society. Join us for a screening of the iconic Paris is Burning, open wine bar, ballroom performance demonstration, and a panel discussion with members of the DC Ballroom scene. DMV Kiki Nights works to curate engaging spaces for learning and collaboration that are accessible and welcoming to all. We are thrilled to partner with Playhaus as we celebrate and reflect on the Ballroom Scene’s legacy and emerging influence.

Playhaus is a multi-use arts space focused on fine art, workshops, and bespoke retail. We are a collective of artists who are making what we imagine in this experiential space. Playhaus encourages imagination and play, in an environment for first-time creatives, avant garde entrepreneurs, and multidisciplinary artists alike.
