Rose Coloured Glasses Mick Capewell's Rose Coloured Glasses
Old shows available to listen at https://www.mixcloud.com/mick Also...there's the Listener's Picks Hour.

In Rose Coloured Land music is everywhere...mostly from the 60s and 70s, but anything goes, as long as I like it! Mostly you get Rock, Pop, Folk, Blues etc etc, Not the tired hits that are played constantly on Gold stations, but also not just obscurities for the sake of showing off. Usually I'll take a stroll through an old music paper from the appropriate week in the period 1966-76 and play track

s from the artists featured in it. If anyone wants to hear an hour of their all-time Rose Coloured Faves, then simply send me a list of 15 to 20 tracks to [email protected] and I'll put it all together. I could waffle on forever, but to check out old Playlists (and there are plenty), , just nip across to the Marmalade Skies website at www.marmalade-skies.co.uk, and listen to old shows at https://www.mixcloud.com/mickcapewell5/

Oh and I also do a Singer/ Songwriter Soft-Rock & Folk thing called The PMT Show (that's Poets, Minstrels & Troubadours)...many shows also available to hear at Mixcloud

Rose Coloured Glasses tonight 9PM-Midnight on WCR
We’ll be stomping through the edition of Let It Rock monthly magazine from July 1975, which would have been in newsagents in June.
It was a Special “Women In Rock” issue so expect lots of ladies in the show, but plenty of lads too.
We’ll have tunes from Patti Smith, Linda Ronstadt, Joan Armatrading, Suzi Quatro, F***y, Carly Simon and (gulp 😳) Yoko Ono…plus Roger Daltrey, ZZ Top, Camel, Rick Derringer, Neil Young, The Crusaders and dozens more.
Splendid! In a “Rocking or Rolled?” kind of way.

Rose Coloured Glasses 9PM-Midnight on WCR
They say that if you can remember the 60s then you weren’t there, well if anyone can remember the scene that we’re featuring on RCG tonight then they are very old indeed 😜 because we’re going through Record Mirror from this week in June 1964…Sixty years ago! 😯
I bought my first record in 1964. It was Ragtime Cowboy Joe by The Chipmunks. Thankfully that one isn’t included in the show, but we do have music from The Hollies, Yardbirds, Pretty Things, Georgie Fame, Zoot Money, Manfred Mann, Chuck Berry, Beatles, Dave Clark 5, Billy Fury, Carl Perkins, Everly Brothers, Swinging Blue Jeans, Gene Pitney, Johnny Burnette, Brian Poole and The Tremeloes, Bernard Cribbins (!) Mandy Rice-Davies (😳) and dozens more.
62 tracks in 3 hours. I think it’s an RCG record!
Splendid! In a ‘It’s so nice to have you back where you belong’ kind of way (or perhaps not 🙄)

WCR can be heard in places undreamed of back in ‘64 when it was all about trannies and radiograms…

It’s Saturday (I think), so that means another edition of Rose Coloured Glasses 9PM-Midnight on WCR, the sound of the South-East!

This time around we’re returning to American music trade mag Record World, to see who was ‘making the scene’ in late May/early June 1970.
So you’ll hear tracks by the likes of Dr John, Poco, Monkees, Edgar Winter, Al Green, Sam & Dave and Michael Nesmith…but…we also have Ambergris, Brooklyn Bridge, Lumbee, Definitive Rock Chorale, Crowfoot, Morganmasondowns, Albert Jones, Tommy Stuart & the Rubberband, Heads of Our Time, Jean Jacques Perrey etc etc
So as per usual it’s certainly not the same old mouldy hits that you’ve heard millions of times. I know it’s like having your comfort blanket taken away but c’mon and take a chance…
You can hear WCR in all of these places…

Tonight it’s ‘another chance to hear’ the RCG show from May 2019 when we stomped through the NME published this week in May 1973.
Tunes from David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Hawkwind, Mott the Hoople, Thin Lizzy, Robin Trower, Johnny Winter, Nazareth and…Cleo Laine !?!?! 🤷‍♂️

It’s the 630th edition of Rose Coloured Glasses on WCR tonight 9-Midnight

www.whitecliffsradio.co.uk plus Tunein, Radio Garden and lots of other platforms. Apparently you can even ask Alexa…

Anyway, tonight we’ll be going through the edition of Rolling Stone published this week in May 1968…back when it was still an ‘Underground’ magazine rather than the Corporate rag it is today 🙄
Cover star El Clappo appears with Cream, and we’ll be spinning groovy sounds from Buffalo Springfield, Country Joe & the Fish, Steve Miller Band, The Doors, Canned Heat, Love, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Harumi and many more. Like…Wow Man, what a trip!
Splendid! In a “One day i’ll be wearing Armani suits” kind of way 🙄

Yet another edition of Rose Coloured Glasses on WCR tonight 9PM-Midnight

www.whitecliffsradio.co.uk and on Tunein and Radio Garden and lots of other platforms.

It’s back into the Time Warp machine for a trip back to this week in April 1970 and Woo-Hoo, we’ll be going through American music trade magazine Record World again! So we’ll have loads of ‘would be’ chartbusters from the likes of Orange Coloured Sky, David Axelrod, Ray Hildebrand, The Family Tree, High Mountain Hoedown, Ted Taylor, Climax, Edward Bear, The Book of Matches, O.B Land, Bubba Fowler, Larry Henley, Blackwell, Stanley Winston and dozens more!
Classics all…
It’s certainly not the same old mouldy hits all over again.
Splendid! In a “Partridge Family’s Producer” kind of way 🤓

The 626th edition of Rose Coloured glasses can be found on WCR at 9PM tonight, so you’d better turn up the sound on Match of the Day 🙄
www.whitecliffsradio.co.uk

We’ll be leafing through the NME from this week in April 1969 and playing tunes from many of the artists inside…but don’t worry, not Des O’Connor 😖 You will hear Peter Sarstedt (no, not that one), Spike Milligan (!), Leslie Phillips (!!), Bill Oddie (!!!), Jimi Hendrix (phew…), Steppenwolf, Desmond Dekker, Byrds, Equals, Janis Joplin, Chicken Shack, Barry Ryan, Staple Singers, Frida Boccara (yes indeed!), Ray Barretto, George Hamilton IV (😴) and dozens more.
As you can see, it’ll be all over the place 🤷‍♂️
So if you fancy 3 hours of ‘69…titter ye not!…then you won’t get a better offer in Herne Bay on a Saturday night, I can tell you…🥸

and what’s this? Mojo magazine? Full of modern rubbish!
Well not really. We’ll be going through issue #4 of Mojo, from March 1994…which is Thirty years ago! Anyway, most of what they wrote about in Mojo was old stuff anyway, so we’ve got music from ZZ Top, Beach Boys, Soft Boys, Pandamonium, Blue Aeroplanes, Dr John, Billy Bragg, Man, Byrds, Boo Radleys, Professor Longhair, Yardbirds, John Trudell and lots more, all churned into Rose Coloured custard.
Mmmm, Nice…
