Last Sunday, Yves Tumor stepped out to the screams of packed house at Royale Boston, their first Boston-area show since a cancelled April 2020 date at the Sinclair. Tumor, in leggings, jockstraps and black leather vest (emblazoned with “69” in diamonds), performed to a fiery crowd that reliably screamed every lyric, frequently breaking up for large mosh pits for songs like “Gospel For a New Century” and “Noid”. Tumor’s cult-following has exploded in recent months, following a slew of successful releases (most recently “The Asymptotical World EP” as a surprise release last July) and around their unique combination of electronic textures, rock-like song structures, and punk aesthetics; the show pulsed with rabid excitement from fans and forceful performances from Tumor’s backing band. Yves Tumor is an act to watch as they continue to musically innovate and tear down local venues; their world tour begins June 8th in Slovenia.
