Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States. About 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer during her life. Although most breast cancers are diagnosed in older women, in rare cases breast cancer does affect women under the age of 45. About 9% of all breast cancer cases in the United States are found in women younger than 45 years of age. Breast cancer in young women is more likely to be hereditary than breast cancer in older women and more likely to be found at a later stage, when it is often more aggressive and difficult to treat. Many young women do not know their risk for breast cancer or ways to manage their risk.

Understanding your cancer risk and being proactive about your health may help you lower your risk for getting breast or ovarian cancer at a young age, or find it at an early stage when treatment works best. All women can do things to lower their breast and ovarian cancer risk. Young women should learn their family health history, as this can help you learn if you have a higher risk for getting hereditary breast or ovarian cancer at a young age.

Join The North Dallas Suburban Alumnae (NDSA)Chapter for the month of February as we explore Heart Disease in Black women and provide tips, tools, and resources to lower your chances of heart disease.

“Be the Beat” by wearing red, sharing at least one healthy habit you’re prioritizing – it could be around sleep, stress, physical activity, nutrition, or whatever works best for you – and encourage others to do the same. We can help the women we know and love reduce their risk for cardiovascular disease by building the healthy habits we know work.

: WE STAND IN SOLIDARITY with the
and proudly join a community of Black musicians from more than 40 orchestras to call for equitable change and decisive action against racial injustice in the industry.

We are deeply concerned because the American orchestral community is not well.

Black musicians have too often experienced significant barriers to inclusion, inequities in treatment and process, and indignities and devaluing of their
musicianship and talents.

The systems, structures, policies, and culture within the orchestral community, and
the stunning indifference of its leaders, have perpetuated and exacerbated
experiences of exclusion.

✊🏾 We call on EVERYONE TO LIFT YOUR VOICE! SIGN THE PETITION, then RE-POST

Today is , and as National Chaplain Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie charged us, we are grabbing what we have and doing what we can!

This year we ask for continued support for Delta's very own - Delta Research & Educational Foundation and Delta for Women in Action. Both organizations were founded out of Delta Sigma Theta's desire to make a more profound impact in specific areas affecting our communities the most. To give simply, visit www.deltasigmatheta.org.

On March 3, 1913, the 22 Founders of Delta Sigma Theta marched down Pennsylvania Avenue to pursue voting rights. Despite attempts at blocking their participation and efforts to relegate them to the rear because of race, they marched on. Because of their sheer determination, Delta Sigma Theta can celebrate 22 of our members actively working throughout the Biden-Harris Administration 109 years later.
