"The problem with labels is that they lead to stereotypes and stereotypes lead to generalisations and generalisations lead to assumptions and assumptions lead back to stereotypes. It's a vicious circle...”

I established LabelFree in December 2012. First, the goal was to re
lease music that I love, or maybe I should say: release the music that I love, meaning I wanted to release it from market dictations and sales expectations, I wanted to get back to being true to the music, and the music alone. As time passed, and as I grew, the concept grew as well, and suddenly this was an opportunity to help and encourage fellow independent artists who are creating brave and honest music that should also be free of labels and limitations. I feel that music is often crushed and flattened in order to fit into marketing strategies that aim for some weird concept of what the masses want, as if there's some kind of a magic formula! I personally prefer uniqueness to mass production, and I stand in awe in front of the beautiful human diversity in the world, everyone is different, everyone is one of a kind, why should we want to change that? It is our differences that make us fascinating, and our similarities that help us appreciate those differences. To me LabelFree is not only a world music label, it is a way of life. As Oscar Wild puts it: " Be yourself, everyone else is already taken "
