Flashback…38 years ago today Van Halen released their 3rd single from the “5150” album, “Love Walks In”. It would peak at #22 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
Some say the song is about a long lost love reaching out to someone after many years, but Sammy has said it’s about aliens which he firmly believes in. Who knows, great song at any rate.

Flashback…35 years ago today the late 80’s band Warrant released the hit single “Heaven”.

The album, with a great name, called “Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinkin’ Rich” and was highly successful, spawning the hit singles "Heaven" ( #2, 1989), "Down Boys" ( #27, 1989) and "Sometimes She Cries" ( #20, 1990). The album peaked at #10 on the Billboard 200.

Flashback…on this day 40 years ago Prince released his classic single “Let’s Go Crazy”. It would become his 2nd #1 hit in the US. The b-side of the single was the unreleased song “Erotic City” which received minor airplay itself, and whose lyrics caused some controversy at the time.

Escape, the 7th album by Journey was released on this date in 1981. It topped the American Billboard 200 chart and features four hits on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, "Don't Stop Believin'" #9, "Who's Crying Now" #4, "Still They Ride" #19 and "Open Arms" #2 plus rock radio staple and my favorite "Stone in Love".
In July 2021, it was certified Diamond by the Recording Industry of America (RIAA) for at least ten million sales in the US, making it the band's most successful album.

Flashback to this week in 1988…

The 70’s and 80’s rock band Cheap Trick who had big success found themselves in a bit of a hit single rut by the late 80’s and with pressure from their record label to use outside of the band writers they finally agreed to record the ballad “The Flame” on the album “Lap of Luxury”. Good decision, the single spent two weeks at #1 and the video was in high rotation on MTV for months.

Yet another flashback from July 6th 1981…
Def Leppard released their 2nd album called “High ‘N’ Dry”.

This was guitarist Pete Willis’ last full-time album with the band. It charted at No. 38 on the Billboard 200. The two official singles were “Let it Go” and “Bringing on the Heartbreak” but the tune “High N Dry (Saturday Night) received a lot radio airplay back then too.

Following the success of Pyromania, the album re-entered in the US chart and reached No. 72 in 1983.

Flashback to July 6, 1985…

On this day 39 years ago Heart release their self titled album. The album would go on to sell over 6 million copies and brought the 70’s rock band into the new sound of the 80’s.
The album included the top 10 classics “What About Love”, “Never”, and “These Dreams”. Singles “Nothin’ At All” and “If Looks Could Kill”are great too.
With lead singer Ann Wilson’s recent press release regarding her cancer diagnosis we wish well in her recovery.
