When the Tribe of Bhattis attacked Sandhus and took away some of his cattle, He is said to have waged a bloody battle on Bhattis but with treachery from his Brahmin Servant, who gave away Mehr's secret to his enemies, He was attacked while asleep and was Martyred thus in the most timid fashion by the Bhattis. But do Gods die ever? A Great Tomb was enacted by the Sandhu Clan in memory of their Ancestor - The Tomb of the Titan Jatt - Great Kala Pir. Every year, since centuries, the Sandhus have been flocking to the tomb of their beloved Ancestor and bringing in offerings for the Great Pir. A Carnival is held each year and ever since has become the part and parcel of the Punjab Heritage. But now as the popularity of the Kala Pir Carnival goes on increasing, people from several other Tribes and Clans have also started flocking in to celebrate the Carnival of Kala Pir. The Sandhu Jatts, as according to their rituals and prayers to the Tomb of Their Supreme Clan Ancestor Baba Kala Mehr, serve the Parshaad of Whiskey, Daru and Alcohol at the Fair Carnival in respect of their Supreme Ancestor. According to the Ancient records of the Sandhu Clan, Baba Kala Mehr was the contemporary of Baba Gorakh Nath. Among his several possessions were his buffaloes, which were attacked and stolen by a Bhatti Raja and the battle among the Bhattis and Sandhus that took place resulted in the Shahidi or Martyrdom of Baba Kala Mehr. Since then, a tradition started at the Tomb of Baba Kala Mehr, whereby Milk was initially served and slowly the Newly Wedded couples started coming to the Tomb and started worshipping Baba Kala Mehr. Then the tradition changed whereby people started serving Alcohol as a Ritual at the Dargah of Pir Baba Kala Mehr. Now each year, thousands of liters of Alcohol is served here. According to the Sandhus, this Carnival of Baba Kala Mehr is now not just limited to the Sandhu Clan, rather its popularity has expanded to several other Tribes as well. This Fair happens in around April each year and Sandhus and people from other Clans and Tribes come from around Punjab, Rajasthan and far away places. According to the Sandhu Clan traditional records, it happened that Baba Kala Mehr used to tend to his cattle and one day while doing so, he happened to meet Baba Gorakh Nath. Baba Gorakh Nath asked Pir Baba Kala Mehr if he can give him some Milk from his buffaloes. The Miracle happened that while the cattle being tend at that time were all Bulls, Baba Ji is said to have miraculously taken milk out of Bulls on striking them with his stick. In this carnival of Sandhus, every Sandhu Jatt is seen celebrating and enjoying his share of fun. He enjoys his share of Whiskey and celebrates. The Parshaad (Religious Offering) served here is either of Milk or Alcohol but most of the time, the devotees of Kala Mehr serve the Parshaad of Alcohol. rurka kalan
