In 2025, James Gunn will introduce audiences to Superman, or rather reintroduce them, as this will be the newest interpretation of the Man of Steel in film and television. Leading into the new film, let's explore some of these iterations with "Views From Metropolis."

Our fifth episode covers the third season of The WB's/The CW's ORIGINAL hit superhero series "Smallville". It can be argued that without this series we wouldn't have the hit DC show "Gotham" over on Fox (which used a similar type of storytelling for a young pair of Jim Gordon & Bruce Wayne), but more importantly without "Smallville", The CW would not have been able to launch hit shows like "Arrow" or "The Flash" that ended up leading to a tv shared universe featuring other shows such as "Constantine" (On NBC), "Legends of Tomorrow", "Black Lighting", "Supergirl", "Batwoman" and even a new iteration of Superman with "Superman and Lois".

So how does the first season of "Smallville" set the table for our boy in blue to begin his journey to the hero we know and love? How does this show set the table for the relationship between Clark Kent and his eventual archnemesis Lex Luthor? All of that and more is covered in this opening episode of "Views from Metropolis".

In 1978, Warner Brothers made theater audiences around the world believe that a man could fly with "Superman The Movie." A massive hit fans wouldn't have to wait long for "Superman II" as tbe film shot back to back with the first, however partway through the shoot Director Richard Donner was replaced witb Richard Lester and reshoots commenced. Now, 43 years later, we look to revisit it as we lead into James Gunn's "Superman" due in July of 2025.

Join Matt and SPECIAL GUEST Geoff Alterman to talk about the sequel that was one of the first blockbusters to experience such major behind the scenes drama. The two dive into the THEATRICAL cut of Superman II and some of the differences between this film and Donner's original vision, which fans would later have released in 2006 as "The Donner Cut."

Gladiator II Movie Review

After nearly a quarter of a century, fans of Ridley Scott's modern classic "Gladiator" will be able to revisit the colosseum with "Gladiator II." Scott brings audiences back into a world 16 years after the events of the first film and this time follows Paul Mescal as the lead in this blood and revenge filled spectacle.

Featuring a supporting cast that touts the likes of Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, Pedro Pescal, and Joseph Quinn (of Stranger Things fame), the big question for this film remains does it provide a story worth revisiting after 24 years away from this world?

Join Matt as he breaks down his spoiler-free thoughts on this latest venture from Ridley Scott (after a few duds) to find out if this film "echoes in eternity" like it's predecessor or if it should have fallen in the colosseum of development.

Venom: The Last Dance Review

Tom Hardy is back as everyone's favorite Marvel Anti-Hero Eddie Brock/Venom in what could be his FINAL adventure as the character. Though this fairly criticized trilogy has seen financial and fan success, for the most part, can it end in a way that leaves fans satisfied or will the diminishing returns the series has seen force Sony to once again reconsider their approach with throe Spider-Man-less spiderverse?

Join Geoff and Matt as they breakdown their thoughts on the latest installment in this saga and potential end of the Venom franchise.
