MYTHS AND FACTS

Number #3

MYTH: Snakes chase people

FACT: Many people have a story of being chased by a Snake. But Herpetologists, people who study Reptiles never seem to have this experience, they find that Snakes are always trying to escape. A Snake has nothing to gain by chasing a person as we are obviously to big for a Snake to look at us as food. Snakes are NOT vengeful and DO NOT chase humans out of sheer hate.

With all the recent calls of snakes out and about we are having a lot of dogs being bitten. Snakes are now on the move and often like hiding in the longer grass as they feel safe where no one can see them, however now with all the hot weather this is not a safe place for your dog to be exploring please try to stick to the paths and keep your dogs on leads as to avoid your beloved pet being bitten and
Enjoy the sunny weather.

Even in the cold weather we will get snake calls, this time it was a Pygmy Copper Head (Presumed Dangerously Venomous) that had got himself stuck in a rain water tank where he was found lifeless and almost frozen to death. With some quick thinking and the extended reach of my pool scoop he was safely removed. With some heat and a bit of TLC he was rereleased back to the wild.
