ＣｌｉｖｅＣｈｒｉｓｔｉａｎ１８７２

Now I haven’t worn this fragrance for a while, but have put it back into rotation recently and it’s staying!! Originally released in 2001 this scent is all about the citrus, aromatics and freshness IMO. It’s backed up with spiciness, greens and woods which all make for a more complicated scent than you initially may suspect.

A high quality and classic fragrance with as I have mentioned a suprisingly complexed layering of notes for this genre. When I first bought this I have to be honest, I was expecting a lot, especially with the price point! and due to the nature of the fresher ingredients which naturally breakdown quicker I wasn’t sure if it would be with it. I was wrong!! The way CC build this scent and how it presents itself on skin shows some impressive skill. Citrus and petigrain with flashes of fresh fruit, flashes of fresh florals, flashes of spices and lavender, sitting on a base of musk, woods, etc. Excellent! A top job, and a fragrance that if you can stretch to the price point I would recommend as your new fresh scent which will perform very well indeed.

“Not all snakes are poisonous and not all the poisons are deadly!”

The Voice Of The Snake Eau de Parfum by Gucci is one of those lesser talked about fragrances and unlike your usual Gucci fragrance this one is super niche. This is a very unique scent and one that I think you should give a little bit of time and attention.

This woody and spicy fragrance and features agarwood (oud) patchouli and saffron. IMO an extremely well put together scent and great balance between the notes, created by none other than one of my favourite Perfumers, Alberto Morillas.

This scent creates a really moody vibe and has some great depth, and although really well balanced, don’t expect much of an evolution through the head, heart and base. But this is more than ok, as the scent is a solid from top to bottom. This scent is big, and will lurk over your shoulder all day, great longevity and sillage. If you are a fragrance collector then this simply has to be in your collection, if you are a casual buyer and want something that’s deep, mysterious and dam fu***ng sexy then definitely give this a go.

Remember not all snakes are poisonous and not all poisons are deadly.

ＨｉｍａｌａｙａｂｙＣｒｅｅｄ

I seriously can’t believe this fragrance was released in 2002, for me I absolutely love this scent and think it still has a very modern aura. I see a lot of view which say they think this scent is dated and although I understand where the comments are coming from, ie it’s powdery / soapy elements, but I have to still disagree. The main accords in this scent are citrus, woods, powders, musk, amber, and the accords slightly lower down in the mix are aromatics, animalic, fresh spicy and balsamic.

The fresh, citrusy opening offers notes of grapcefruit, bergamot and lemon. The fragrance takes an oriental turn with a heart featuring sandalwood, all on a base of musk, ambergris and cedarwood. I love it. A musky, soapy, slightly powdery and sour(y) citrusy masterpiece that works so well casually or dressed up. This scent seems to fly under the radar compared to other Creed fragrances, but it’s one that will firmly be in my collection for as long as it’s in the range.

Top notes are Calabrian bergamot, Grapefruit and Sicilian Lemon; middle note is Sandalwood; base notes are Musk, Ambergris and Cedar.

A new brand to come under my nose recently and one that I’m actually really enjoying. I say a new brand by Atkinson’s have been going since 1799!! When the company was founded by James Atkinson, who rather quickly build quite a reputation for purveying some of the finest fragrances of his time.

Pirates Grand Reserve is unisex scent and has main accords of woods, vanilla, powder, warm spicy and rum! My first impressions are that this fragrance is unique, one that has a lot of familiar notes to me, but blended in a way that projects different! In the projection and longevity this scent does extremely well, and the presentation of the bottle and packaging is some of the best I’ve seen.

This scent opens really boozy but then settles back into that vanilla/Cacao within the hour. It’s then presents the cedar which for me is fairly dominant but merges well with the now fainter alcoholic rum note. All in all a great scent for someone who is a fan of alcoholic notes in their scents, but blended extremely well as to not overpower, well at least after the initial spray.

Top notes are Rum, Vanilla, Cacao, Heliotrope and Jasmine; middle notes are Virginia Cedar, Cardamom, Broom, Clary Sage and Geranium; base notes are Cashmeran, Patchouli, Musk and Moss.

It’s been just over a week since we lost the most beautiful little girl. My niece Harper, was such a beautiful, sweet, and most innocent little dot. We all loved her dearly and she didn’t deserve any of this. Not a day goes by where I’m not thinking about her, and miss her so very much. Every fragrance should have a good story behind it, and GIT is no exception….

Crafted after Olivier’s uncle’s time at the Linton Tweed Mill, Green Irish Tweed plays homage to the Creed family couture heritage. With notes that conjure the earthy tones of luxurious hand-woven yarns, this fragrance explores the nature and craftmanship that is associated with the English based mill.

This scent was launched in 1985 and is still a firm favourite at the house today, a second that has stood the test of time, and is still as relevant today as it was when it was initially released. With top notes of Peppermint, Verbena, Lemon, Bergamot & Galbanum; heart notes of Geranium (Egypt), Lavender & Violet; and base notes of Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Ambergis & Oakmoss this Fougère, Fresh & Green scent is one that is quite special.

Green Irish Tweed by Creed is a classic Fougere fragrance. One of the signature scents of the house of Creed, this "walk through the Irish countrywide" is a favorite of many celebrities. The fragrance is rich, fresh, sporty and unforgettable.

In summary this fragrance is a masterpiece IMO. Absolutely one of the best "green" fragrance I've ever experienced, among only a select few others. Also one of the most versatile office type scents that seamlessly transitions to evening wearability. Sillage tick, longevity tick and an all round crowd pleaser.

This scent has a really special meaning to me, it was the scent my wife wore on our wedding day, and is a scent I will never forget. Scents have a way of transporting you back to an event, and can invoke such great memories and that’s exactly what this scent does for me.

Part of the Penhaligon’s Portraits collection, The Coveted Duchess Rose eau de parfum tells the story of Lady Blanche and Lord George’s daughter – who married the Duke in order to escape the rigidity of her parents. Frustrated by her unsatisfactory marriage, she continues to seek fun and frivolity. This floral fragrance, which is created in the UK, captures the essence of her not so innocent side with mandarin, rose and musky wood."

Very light citrusy rose with a good body and balancing of notes 🌹 Classic, elegant, and graceful. Not necessarily the head-turning type, but it does leave lasting impression. Well if most certainly did in my case 😍 A floral scent dedicated to an alluring and captivating character in both the Duchess and my Wife. Good sillage and longevity as expected as this price point.

ＬａＳｐｕｇｎａｔｕｒａ

It wasn’t that long ago that I posted about this scent, however I have been getting into this in a big way and couldn’t help dropping an updated take now that I have worn it a little more.

Arancia La Spugnatura by Acqua Di Parma is a new fragrance from this house and is a special edition! So if you like the sound of this be sure to pick it up while stocks last.

Now that I have had multiple days wearing this I am really picking up on the bitter almond as one of its highlights. It’s a super high quality Italian summer scent, which is really natural smelling and definitely not synthetic. It’s fresh and spicy citrus makeup really embraces and celebrates Orange, Mandarin and Lemon citrus fruits in a big way. It’s what initially hits you in the top of the fragrance and remains a constant throughout. Slowly this scent starts to reveal spicy pepper and bitter almonds for additional sweet and spiciness, before heading into the base with a really welcoming woody cedar and delicate musk.

This really is a perfect summer scent and because of the quality, doesn’t do too badly on longevity either. If you are into Orange based scents then this is the one for you, fans of Terre d’Hermes would really enjoy this scent. Notes breakdown below 👇🏻

ＳｉｌｖｅｒＭｏｕｎｔａｉｎＷａｔｅｒ

“A fragrance inspired by the exhilarating crispness of alpine air, Silver Mountain Water is a fresh and contemporary scent” - a note from the brand.

This scent was released in 1995 and seeing as this wasn’t too long ago compared to some scents from this house, this is the reason why this is one of their more modern smelling fragrances. The main accords are green, citrus, fruity, woody and musk, which make a very intoxicatingly fresh, and attractive scent. Arguably, IMO and to this day, this is the best scent Creed have released, because it isn’t just about how fresh and crisp this fragrance is, but it has some great depth and complexity throughout the composition. A very contemporary unisex scent, which I think does a great job at balancing the crisp & sharp citric notes with warming sweet blackcurrant and charming musk.

This scent really does feel like an invigorating breeze of fresh, icy, mentholated mountainous air. The fragrance captures the essence of crystal clear Alpine streams descending over frosted rock face, whilst retaining the comfort of a warm and plush jacket.

A solid 10/10 for me, and is a perfect all-rounder. It’s maybe not the powerhouse that is Creed Aventus in terms of longevity, but this scent does more than enough in that department. The same has to be said for sillage and the scent itself. In summary simply a must have!

ＬｏｓｔＣｈｅｒｒｙ 🍒

I’m actually quite shocked I have never done a review on this fragrance, so here it is!!

Lost Cherry by Tom Ford was released in 2018 and is a very sweet, but surprisingly complexed scent. I think most people would say this leans towards a more feminine scent but is labelled as unisex by the brand. I wear this occasionally and really appreciate the different stages this scent goes through, from head to base. I have always been a huge fan of cherry, to eat and to smell. I remember back in the day having a California Scents car air freshener which smelt like cherry Bakewell, so it’s hardly surprising that I find this scent quite addictive.

The opening is very close to an authentic cherry food additive. But the complexity starts immediately after that, where the warmth of the more mature notes start to blend with the cherry note. As I’ve said already this is very addictive to smell. The projection, longevity and scent itself are 8’s across the board for me. You tend to find this with TF fragrances, they use the best ingredients of the highest quality which accounts for a lot when it comes to overall performance. For those of you that like different versions of the same scent TF have recently released Cherry Smoke which I can imagine would be a great mix, one that’s on the list for sure!

Top notes are Bitter Almond, Black Cherry and Cherry Liqueur; middle notes are Sour Cherry, Plum, Turkish Rose and Jasmine Sambac; base notes are Tonka Bean, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Peru Balsam, Benzoin, Sandalwood, Cloves, Cedar, Patchouli and Vetiver.

ＦｕｃｋｉｎｇＦａｂｕｌｏｕｓ

This scent was released in 2017 and back then I remember there being a lot of buzz surrounding this, firstly because of the name and secondly the scent itself, which is a complex layering of aromatics, leathers, and sweetness with a woody finish.

This is a beautifully constructed perfume IMO, TF has a certain style across its scents and I have to say this one really does stand out and lives up to the name. I don’t even have to go into much detail when it comes to performance as most Tom Ford fragrances deliver on all levels, and this is no exception.

Sillage ☑️ Longevity ☑️ Scent ☑️

There are lots of negative reviews out there for this scent which are mainly driven by the price, understandable, however look past that and only focus on the scent and you have yourself something very unique.

The key ingredients of the composition include bitter almond oil, tonka bean, orris root, leather, cashmerean and clary sage oil.

Top notes are Lavender and Clary Sage; middle notes are Leather, Bitter Almond, Vanilla and Orris; base notes are Leather, Tonka Bean, Cashmeran, White Woods and Amber.

This new release from Penhaligon’s is an interesting one for me and shows me somewhat where Penhaligon’s are going notes-wise with their new releases. It wasn’t long ago that Penhaligon’s released Babylon and Constantinople, and I feel Mr Thompson falls somewhere in the middle. Across all three scents you have different variations of woods and vanilla which is where the similarities are. However, Mr Thompson slightly comes into its own with Smokey, rum-like leather hints to the scent which is then softened by vanilla and sesame milk. Pink Pepper and Iris are welcomed notes which only add to this scent.

A note from the brand: “Mr Thompson is reassuring at every turn – yet a master in the art of spying. As for what the butler saw… well, he never forgets, but is ever discrete. All the best butlers keep your secrets…”

Let’s also talk about the bottle, this is honestly one of the best IMO across the range. I love the Stag for Lord George and the Dragon for Arthur but this Elephant top is stealing the show for me. Presentation and the story telling is always top notch from Penhalgion’s and the scent is no exception. After wearing this for a number of days now I can honestly say this is a top scent, great ingredients, blended and layered very well, with the all round performance at a solid 8 for me personally (sillage, scent and longevity)

The only slight negative is that the sweetness smooths out the leather hints a little too much for my liking. I’d like the Smokey leather to cut through more than it does, but this is a small take, on what is a solid 8/10 scent.

It’s been a while since I have posted about this scent for two reasons; 1) my scent cycle is currently at an unmanageable level 2) This scent became so popular, I was smelling it everywhere. However, upon reflection and coming back round to wearing it, I just say it still absolutely bangs!

This is a scent that will always be a firm favourite in my collection, and even though there are imitations / similar scents out there, IMO they just don’t overtake this wonderful scent. Considering all aspects; scent, longevity, sillage and presentation, this is one of those scents that truly deliveries on all of these and then some. This scent has adorned our shelves since 2010 and is still as relevant today as it was when it launched, and if you have one of those elusive batches from back in the day, it might worth a pretty penny. Great all-around fragrance, easy to wear and it has such a familiar scent but is still very unique and you can just tell it’s uses the best most high quality ingredients.

Celebrating strength, vision and success, inspired by the dramatic life of war, peace and romance lived by emperor Napoleon. The bottle is emblazoned with a silver emblem of a horse and rider. The finest ingredients were hand-selected for this composition, with father and son developing this productive, masculine and optimistic fragrance as a joint effort
Top notes of Blackcurrant, Bergamot, Apple and Pineapple. At the heart we have notes of dry Birch, Moroccan Jasmine and Patchouli. Finally base notes of Oak Moss, Musk, Ambergris and Vanilla.

ＣｒｅｅｄＶｉｋｉｎｇＣｏｌｏｇｎｅ

This is straight up a scent for the summer! This Aromatic Fougère seriously does bang, and is a great addition to some of the big hitting summer scents out there. This scent smells especially good in the air and is certainly a head turner in my view. I’ve seen lots of reviews saying that this scent is weak, well it is a cologne after all, however I think it’s easy to go nose blind on this. Trust the scent as others around you are going to pick up on this.

Looking at this Vs the OG Viking, I actually think it’s an easier wear tbh. However, if you are looking for better sillage, a stronger scent and longevity then the OG Viking will take it. As ever, this is down to personal preference but by no means does the cologne variant completely tanks. Like I said, in the air this scent will most certainly still be noticed and smells really good.

Top notes are Mandarin Orange, Pink Pepper, Lemon and Bergamot; middle notes are Lavender, Geranium, Sage, Nutmeg and Rosemary; base notes are Vetiver, Sandalwood, Cedar, Olibanum and Patchouli.

In summary this is a very approachable, masculine scent that’s fit for the summer. Mature, modern and fresh sum this up well I feel, with a soft-moderate projection for around 2 hours or so with longevity around 6 hours (more than enough for a cologne)

Ｓａｒｔｏｒｉａｌ

Launched back in 2010 and still standing up proud today, Sartorial by Penhaligon’s is still firmly in the line up and in my view for good reason. When wearing this it does everything that you would expect something called Sartorial to do, make you feel dapper, and debonair, but don’t think this is a fragrance for the office when you are suited and booted, oh no. This is just a good for wearing on a night out or big occasion, I feel it’s really versatile in that sense.

Right there is a lot to break down here when it comes to notes, Top notes are Metallic notes, Aldehydes, Cardamon, Black Pepper, Water Notes, Violet Leaf, Ginger and Neroli; middle notes are Lavender, Beeswax, Leather, Lime (Linden Blossom) and Cyclamen; base notes are Oakmoss, Honey, Woody Notes, Amber, Tonka Bean, Patchouli, Vanilla, Myrrh, White Musk, Cedar and Gurjan balsam.

Collectively these notes make a truly aromatic fougere scent, with main accords of Lavender, Honey, Woods and warm spices. It also most definitely has that slight barbershop vibe to the frag too. Most definitely a modern fougere and will be fantastic for certain audiences, however, I couldn’t really see this pleasing the younger audiences, I’d say 28 and up. It’s very refined, fresh and warm all at the same time which draws me to this scent. Sillage and projection are great on this scent and in summary this is up there for me of one of the better fougere/barbershop scents. Very complexed but really well balanced.

It’s time to turn on the ignition and fasten your seatbelts. Live life in the fast lane with the latest release from . This powerhouse scent doesn’t disappoint and delivers through the gears from head to base. Inspired by British motorsport if you hadn’t already guessed 🏁

Penhaligon’s have always been ahead when it comes to story telling, celebrating heritage, and combining scents and branding to create an experience. This scent does just that! and is one of the better scents they have released recently IMO.

The scent is made up of Pink Pepper, Essence and Arolle Pine in the top. Eucalyptus and Cypress in the mid. Patchouli, Patchoulol, Ambroxan and Musk in the base.

The explanation that Penhaligon’s uses to intertwine the scent with the branding I really like. “Champagne showers. Chequered flags. Our champion scent wrestles Pink Pepper-Sharp Hairpins, Eucalyptus roars over fresh cut-grass. A full throttle fougère of Patchouli and Woods if there ever was one”

This scent reminds me of the 2020 release of William Penhaligon just much more deliberate, better longevity and sillage. My only real gripe with this scent is that it seems to be a limited edition. This smells that good to me that it should have a place in the line-up for the foreseeable future.

In summary a top scent from the house of Penhaligon’s. A fantastic example of fragrant story telling and where branding meets scent perfectly well. The chequered flags on the lid and that oh so distinct British racing green colour, paired with the scent take pole position and are certainly finishing 1st on the podium for me.

Well…. You have all spoken and Honey Oud won the poll for my next review! So here it is 🙌🏻

A stunning scent from a brand steeped in history. This is actually firmly within my top 10 frags of all time! I love it that much. This scent has accords of English honey and vanilla which combine to add a velvet softness to the oud oil. Floris say this is one of the most captivating scents they hold, and I couldn’t agree more. This delivers on so many levels and is one of those you just have to smell, once you do it’s hook, line and sinker.

Honey Oud opens with a gourmand accord of English honey and vanilla which combine to add a velvet softness to the oud oil and accentuate the rose at the heart of this complex fragrance.

This fragrance is created with oud oil from a certified sustainable source of agarwood. This oil is among the most expensive in the perfumer's palette. It is an opulent, deep sensual note that combines beautifully with rose and sandalwood.

Smokey, Woody and Leathery with Oud and spice. A welcome addition to La Collection Privée, released in 2018 this scent is quite potent bringing two very distinct notes together to deliver a scent to be remembered, but is it remembered for the right reasons?
Personally I don’t think this scent will be for everyone, it’s bold, quite strong in the opening and in my experience works on some skins and others not. Having done a bit of research it sounds like previous batches of this scent were held in higher regards. I mean I don’t hate this scent, it works on me but I do find I use it more sparingly, mainly because of the strength and potency. If you are looking for a super bold leather Oud that has longevity for days and a powerful sillage then this works and works well. However, if you over spray then this can be overbearing and bordering on embarrassing, keep it to 4 sprays around the neck and it drys down to a nice wear
