Here’s an update from Helberg Barbecue:

Here’s an update from Helberg Barbecue:

Update/praise report:

We got the gang together yesterday to do some interior cleaning of the building after our insurance gave us the green light. It felt great to be together again and get the space in which we’ve spent so many hours together looking a little better.

WE HAVE A TRAILER! The folks at Barnett's Whiskey House are graciously letting us borrow the trailer we’ve been operating out of down on Franklin Ave to get our weekly operation back up and running ASAP out in speegleville, with limited hours/menu.

We had a very uplifting meeting with the health department today laying out what we need to do in order to get our smokehouse operational, and it looks like that could be as early as next week! This means we are ready to start taking catering inquiries for 2+ weeks out, and our Christmas preorders will be back open this weekend for whole briskets, turkeys, turkey breasts, and more.

Y’all have blown us away with your support. The gofundme campaign to help support our staff while we work on getting back to full capacity has passed the halfway mark to the goal set by our dear friends, Mallory and Arnis Robbins of Evie Mae’s bbq in Wolforth, TX. There are several other fundraising opportunities that y’all can get involved in going on around town, which we will follow up with in a separate post and on our stories. Y’all have quite literally overwhelmed us with the support to where we are having a hard time keeping up with announcements and updates while we are juggling dealing with insurance adjusters (we only have personal property coverage unfortunately), and trying to put together a plan to open in some limited capacity. Stay tuned for more announcements on events you can attend locally.

We are looking for vendors that may be interested in selling our bbq rub, as we have hundreds of bottles available that were not damaged by the fire. They are currently available at Lane’s on Austin Ave and will soon be available for purchase on our website, which brings us to our next project: shipping!

We have been working on getting a nationwide shipping program going since the beginning of the year, and we figured as soon as we can start cooking in the smokehouse again, there’s no better time to roll that out. We will follow up when that becomes available on our website.

If you’ve made it this far, thanks for sticking with my info dump and lastly, be on the lookout for a bbq class fundraiser we plan to hold in January. We plan to get more of our crew involved in it so we can have more attendees than ever before, and hopefully raffle off some cool prizes.

Whew, that’s a lot, and there’s still so much more to share. These days are long and exhausting but nothing we aren’t used to. Thanks so much for following along. We love you all ❤️
