3, 2 , 1 ..Liftoff!

Its always a treat to see a lapwing, and to hear their charming pee-wit call over the wetland.

Sadly, the number of Lapwings in the UK has decreased by 55% since the 60s, so its important to preserve the grasslands, marshes and wetlands where they reside.

The Guillemots have returned for the breeding season! There is a special place in my heart for seabirds, and having the opportunity to see the colony from the waters of Puffin Island in Anglesey was a real treat.
Shot on Canon R6 with Sigma 150-600mm.

As if the views at the top of Ingleborough weren't enough, we were treated to the lifting song of the Skylark! These lovely birds are ground nesters and take to the skies to sing during the breeding season.
Photographed on Canon R6, Sigma 150-600mm.

You know spring is in full swing when you hear the Meadow Pipit's joyous song while on a hike! These lovely little songbirds can be found on upland heaths nesting in tussocks during the spring, so listen out for their calls when you're out and about in nature!

Shot on Canon R6 / Sigma 150-600mm

I was treated to an absolutely stunning display from a Marsh Harrier at a local wetland nature reserve. This male was swooping low over the reedbeds, causing a cacophony of startled waders as it appeared, seemingly out of nowhere.

Shot on Canon R6 with Sigma 600mm.

A tale in three parts. An adult European Dipper feeding their chick. It was my first time photographing Dippers, so what a privilege to capture this moment of parenthood!

Thank you for playing 'which chick will they feed this time?' with me until we got the shot 😁

A Stonechat on a perch! Was lucky to capture this one before it flitted away. Did you know that Stonechat's get their name from their song, which resembles two stones being tapped together?
