The Buzzard (buteo buteo) might be the UK’s most commonly sighted bird of prey, but that doesn’t make watching them hunt over Mull’s farmlands any less enjoyable.

A Razorbill in flight on the waters surrounding the isle of Lunga. The inclement weather and presence of a white tailed eagle made the auks cautious to return to their nesting sites on the island. They spent most of the time I was visiting rafting on the water in safety, occasionally taking to the air. Such a treat to see these wonderful little birds back for spring/summer 24!

I photographed this spectacular White Tailed Eagle a couple of times during her most recent breeding season. She is in her twenties and has coupled with a young male although they have yet to have a successful nest, perhaps due to the males inexperience. It was such a pleasure watching the pair and I look forward to seeing what next spring brings for them. These photos really put my long lens photography skills to the test but I just had to share this beauty with you all!

There are multiple theories as to why all three species of wagtail ,well, wag their tails. One theory suggests it is to flush out insects to feed upon, another proclaims the wag has a social function, either to communicate to members of its species or to convey alertness to predators.
