During an ass-tounding show last night at Koko in Camden, singer-songwriter @katenash addressed her viral ‘Butts 4 Tour Buses’ - a protest at the music industry’s large profits, while artists struggle with loss-making tours and receiving 0.003 of a penny for every play on steaming services.
The Irish World Newspaper features and supports young and independent artists with our features, interviews and reviews - so Nash’s campaign is something we can get behind - pun wholeheartedly intended.
Irish music fans in and around London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds are particularly lucky to have fantastic venues offering live music every weekend with no cover charge (check out our following list). But the live music scene is under serious threat.
London Irish artist Kate Nash, who recorded her latest album ‘9 Sad Symphonies’ in Connemara, will now tour Netherlands, Germany and France before closing out 2024 with a shows in Belfast (17 December) and Dublin (18 December). She returns to London in April at the Kentish Town Forum.
Get your a** down there if you can!
