“With La Grange Park having one of the lowest park district tax rates in suburban Cook County, we really depend on grant money to supplement our capital funds,” Jessica Cannaday, park district executive director, said. “Less than 50 % of our operations come from tax dollars, while the rest come from our program fees.”

Thanks to a grant from the State of Illinois, The Community Park District of La Grange Park will see one of its larger parks get a much-needed renovation. The Illinois Department of Natural Resourc…

“The labor agreement reached is largely attributable to improved relationships and trust rebuilding as the village and our fire staff work more collaboratively to improve efficiency, response times, and outcomes,” Village Manager Greg Summers said. “While there will always be differences between the Village Board and unionized staff, this contract reflects the balance of each side’s needs, without added burden on village finances.”

A new contract between Oak Brook and the firefighters union calls for salaries for firefighter/paramedics to be adjusted by 3.5% annually throughout its term, while also maintaining the village’s management rights to appropriately staff the department.

“The primary focus is to be able to fund improvements and renovations of the 32-year old pool, which is soon to become inoperable and closed due to increased costs of annual maintenance and operational costs to the park district,” said Don Scheltens, the park district’s executive director.

Clarendon Hills Park District is asking voters to approve and $8 million bond issue for improvements at the pool, along with some other park improvements in the village.

“Belcaster leads by example, he’s one of the most hard working coaches I’ve ever seen,” Olasupo Akande, a senior on the Hinsdale South varsity boys basketball team, said to the school board. “He stays up late at night watching film on teams that we play weeks in advance, and allows us to stay in the gym after practice when most coaches would go home to their family.”

Hinsdale District 86 Tuesday voted against removing the head coach of Hinsdale Sough High School's varsity boys basketball team.

“My first inclination was I wanted to do something a little different than they’re getting in the dining hall,” Chef Mark Sabbe said. “So that we could create a distinction between this restaurant and what they normally do for their food service. We’re just supposed to be an option, just like the Pub and the Bistro.”

“The reason our town is such a nice place to live is rooted in the thousands of people over the last 100 years that have worked to make it that way,” Village President Eric Tech said. “Things have certainly changed in town over the last 100 years, but the community remains what it was started as: a tight-knit, family friendly community.”

Village Presidenet EricTech said the history of Clarendon Hills is a shared experience for its residents, whether it’s the story of the Middaugh Farm Daisy Field, or more somberly the TWA plane crash in 1961 that killed all 78 people on board.

“We feel these are cornerstones of what makes Hinsdale charming and unique,” Monica Mossburg, a 6th Street resident, said. “While one individual historic feature is not going to make or break the village, the destruction of historic 6th Street would set a dangerous precedent.”

Residents living on one of the last remaining brick roads in Hinsdale petitioned the village board Monday night arguing 6th Street should be repaved in brick as it has been for decades.

Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso noted that Burr Ridge has no Metra station and, so far, has not had any recent issue with migrants, though the village did wind up with some in 2022 which it housed briefly in a hotel. Still, Grasso said with all the publicity, he wanted to have a discussion on the topic.
