Once a year, we hold a gathering, a celebration for and with Filipino creatives, from all backgrounds, industries, and communities. It is holistic, in the sense that it caters to every single one with a creative flow, promoting the idea that every person, every Filipino, is creative. @purveyrfair not only showcases different brands, establishments, and talks, but it also provides a space for people to meet and interact.
As we revisit the recent iteration of PURVEYR Fair that happened last year, we recount the various experiences, personal and general feelings alike. It was indeed a time for the creative congregation to celebrate, that while it may have lasted for only two days, its legacy continues on.
And hopefully, we’ll see you soon on September 7-8, 2024 to experience what #PURVEYRFair2024 has in store for all of us.

True to his multi-hyphenate nature, Unique Salonga (@uniquesalongaph) planned a release of two bodies of art this month. The first: a musical track. The second: a solo art exhibit.
Early last week, Unique released an hour-long track entitled “Oblivion”. The song is both euphoric and tranquil, and according to the artist, it is meant to release listeners from the motions of everyday life.
"Ang Oblivion ay about sa pag-escape natin instantly dito sa external na mundo," says Unique. “Asahan niyo na isa ‘to sa magiging tool para makapag-transcend mula sa mga problema na dinadala niyo sa pang araw-araw."
In line with the track release, his first-ever solo art exhibition was launched last Sunday at Secret Fresh Gallery (@secretfreshph), works of tessellation art was showcased. Each piece is complemented with music produced by Unique, allowing for an immersive audio-visual experience.
“Gusto kong ipakita na hindi mo kailangang ma-stuck sa iisang field o specialization. Gusto kong magbigay sa kanila ng lakas ng loob para mahanap nila ‘yung natatago pa nilang potensiyal.”
Oblivion is currently available on all digital streaming platforms. The Oblivion art exhibit will take place in Secret Fresh Art Gallery until February 5, 2022.

Only 10PM, how do you make the best of your time?
Goldfiishie (@goldfiishie) sings through a mellow beat, of soothing candor, and straight from the heart. ’Only 10pm,’ a 3-song EP that conveys softness, vulnerability, and poise, and more, sings through dazzling highs and the melodrama lows, of what it’s like to stay in that moment.
No stranger to the ardent local scene, she released EP ‘Our Own Universe,’ of which the manic-magnificent, adrenaline-clustered ‘Lost Control’ single was included.
Three tracks with a distinct veneer of earnestness that permeates the atmosphere — from writing to production, Only 10PM covers the City Pop vibe of “living the moment,” and delivers the emotional whiplash of knowing a good moment is just about to climax. Enjoined in the track’s process is Jorge Juan B. Wieneke V (of previous @similarobjects experimental, industrial, electronica acclaim), seasoned singer-songwriter VINCED (@vinced) from Kindred Productions (@kindredproductions), among others.
You can stream 'Only 10pm' (the featured track on this post) on Spotify.

All for the love of skating and music, local skate clique Spectre (@spectreltd) released a short film aptly titled ‘Spectreland’ that highlights the group at their most authentic element.
Shot and edited by Tofu (@joshsubeldia), the candid scenarios and fisheye orientation of the film will make any viewer feel like a spectator being introduced to the group's underground community of skaters and DJs. It also illustrates how their common hobbies became a foundation of their brotherhood.
“The film is about how fun skating can be without feeling any pressure of doing a specific trick – it’s just what they feel like doing, basically having fun.”, Tofu described.
Watch the entire film at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKEO1HfUv-E&t=512s. It features Esh Francisco, Tyrone Cabas, JC Cabantog, Ched Calma, Killua Santiago, George Portento, Ralph Epres, Franz Paneda, Mel Sta. Ana, Mike Brosas, and Eric Silagan, with music by Mhar Udarbe.

How much do you miss in a single blink?
Clara Benin, previously of recognition for ‘Suara Hati,’ a 2015 Bahasa Indonesian-penned acoustic balad, waxes poetic and pulses with melancholia in ‘blink,’ a track bedazzled with the soft gaze of the pace of life, rich in reflection and worry, all while still being an easy and gorgeous track to dive one’s worries into.
Her first single under international label OFFMUTE (@offmute), the singer-songwriter wrings a familiar path — as the lyrics impart the feeling of spinning an old photograph through a new lens, she beckons at the listener to feel that same way, to touch those same heartstrings. All the while, Gabba Santiago (@gabbasantiago) bejewels the tracks with fluttering precision, subdued, but full of emotion.
You can stream ‘blink’ on most streaming platforms.

Real self care is found in the process, the penance, of processing your emotions — and as vydd (@vydd) puts it firmly in latest release ‘Ugly’, nothing wrong with putting a little bit of fun and bounce to it.
“Like the musical rendition of the ‘this is fine’ cartoon dog meme,” were some of the choice words the underground pop artist went with describing the themes and aesthetics of the song. Vydd, who has previously worked with others in the local OPM circuit — making prominence on Serro’s (@jserro_) EP ‘Games 4 Two’ and with Pierre on dual-single ‘Pain’, to name some, injects a hearty and light feel to something touchy, usually sensitive. As the chorus rears its ‘ugly’ head, the mood is enforced and enhanced through patient beats, a bouncy 808, and soothing melody. Putting it likely, “things are starting to get ugly.”
You can stream ‘Ugly’ on Spotify.

If you’re looking for an alternative streaming platform, WaterBear, the first one dedicated to the future of our world, recently launched in the Philippines.
For those unfamiliar with WaterBear (@waterbearnetwork), they make inspirational and impactful content available for streaming. Most of their videos revolve around topics related to the enviroment—think climate change, sustainable fashion, and biodiversity to name a few.
In fact, the streaming site already features some moving documentaries based in the Philippines. This includes ‘Bird of Prey’, a 2017 documentary on the Philippine Eagle, and ‘Diwata’, a 2019 film on female activists in Palawan.
WaterBear’s launch in the country is part of the company’s efforts to rollout their platform around the globe. To mark their launch in the country, they partnered with local artist Issa Barte (@issabarte.art). Additionally, they joined hands with local NGO For the Future (@forthefutureph) to plant one tree per sign-up for the first 1,000 sign-ups.
You can sign-up to WaterBear on www.waterbear.com

Filipino-American rapper february bank (@februarybank) released his first song from his upcoming 10-track LP “Parallel Universe” called “FEVER” – all produced by South Korean producer J-Path (@j_path).
The inspiration behind the track came from the artist’s personal COVID-19 fever experience that he translated to a heavy trap tune full of heat and power – with lyrics like “I be sweating in a t-shirt that’s why I rep Pilipinas”. Also, it’s only fitting that the music video was filmed in Las Vegas, Nevada, directed and shot by Miko Reyes (@_mikoreyes).

Designer Alyanna Ferrer (@alyannaferrer) recently collaborated with several young creatives to produce a short featuring her newest collection, The Remake. As an extension line of the brand's Reissue Vol. 01, it continues the exploration into basics made with pre-existing materials. The Remake features these designs in new colorways and using different fabrics. They have created a line that allows one to incorporate unique patterns into their everyday life through easy-to-wear silhouettes.
The creatives behind the film include Ethan Yamamoto (@ethanyamamoto), Alli Sigua (@alli.sigua), Prince Zabarte, and Mavis Ferrer.
With a self-awareness on the negative impact of producing clothes can leave on the environment, The Remake explores circularity and human interconnectedness through fashion and film, and reminds us to always remember this.

Full sinusoidal sonic, absolutes in the audio waveform. After nearing two years in lockdown, Jowee Alviar and Paolo De Silva of eclectic electronic music outfit/collective Synthicide (@synthicide) figured that it was just about enough, and the call was simple: Synthramuros.
Synthramuros was held at the old American Barracks last Nov. 20, 2021, at Intramuros Manila, where performers and audio aficionados alike all brought their sets to the blocks, bringing in full reverie the breadth of electronica. The event was spurred by desire to prod at the possibilities of having live concerts again, despite the pandemic’s spread and current alert level at the time.
Massive, great, the transition state of city disquiet slowly reverberated, escalated, turning into the vibrant techno to swallow Intramuros whole. Among other attendees of the jam were Up Dharma Down’s Ean Mayor (@eanmayor) and Nono, each with a tight hold on their domain of the electronic music space — be it tech-house and ambient/industrial presiding.
At a range of up to 3,000 strong, the impromptu gig-as-gathering not only broke the lockdown’s placid demeanor as most public spaces remained closed, but offered a sliver at the return of live performance, be it four-man group or full body collective.

Everything overwhelms and everything can rush in. Classic rock n’ rolla, the enormous pressure in the undercurrent of the mind — Ben&Ben brings thematic touches of struggle, omnipresence in pain, through song and MV ‘Lunod,’ directed by Jerrold Tarog, fresh from their latest album ‘Pebble House, Vol 1: Kuwaderno.’
The video prominently features Zildand juan karlos, each with their contemporary touches on OPM Rock, Alternative Pop, Funk, in the local scene. Known for their hold on the new sound of Philippine pop ballads, ‘Lunod’ is a testament to the collaborative spirit of all spirits involved. Of prominence within the video is the usage of the venue — the Museo El Deposito Reservoir — to hook the narrative in full swing: suffocation. Raging riffs, eclectic and macabre visuals through lyricism; a waterfall of emotions rushing, swarming through every pore.
The track, available on all streaming platforms with the album, comes alongside the album-themed Kuwaderno Pop-Up Cafe Activities, which ran from Nov. 25-27, and included a cafe themed in the song’s namesake, an art installation depicting the song's themes, especially around mental health, and other activities. All three artists will also join together on Dec. 5, 2021 at 8-11pm for Kuwaderno: A Ben&Ben Online Concert.

“Dito sa bartolina sino ang tunay na salarin?”
Crushing internal oppression, hidden shadows, deadly manifestations — part of the throes of Horrorcore is cultivating a rich and frightful touch of the darkness within, the evil without. And parsing, taking that deep plunge toward the musical subgenre is PLAZMA (@kingplazma), expertly weaving the vivid imagery and intense atmosphere in latest single ‘Ang Salarin.’
One track off his latest release ‘Ang Ulan At Ang Delubyo,’ PLAZMA through ‘Ang Salarin’ brings full regalia the adrenaline and destitution that comes with the stylings in this corner of Hip-hop and Rap. Hope is dim, chances are slim, all wrapped up in the veneer of cutthroat lyricism, underground rap stylings. Intense, dreadful, the album manages to be a clever interplay between horror aesthetics and a pleasant listen for fans of the genre.
You can stream ‘Ang Salarin’ from ‘Ang Ulan At Ang Delubyo’ on most streaming platforms, as well as watch the music video on YouTube.
