The story has it that late Chikwado's visa was out, and he went to his village Ugbaike in Igbo-Eze north LGA in Enugu state to inform his father. On getting home, his father suggested they visit a native doctor for 4tification so that he would be successful abroad.

He agreed and they went to Onuwa, the native doctor who said that Chikwado will be bùriéd alive for 1hr30 minutes after which he will be exhùmèd. After 1hr30mins, they exhùmèd him, and he was de@d already.

Police came and arrested his father, Uwakwe, and the native doctor.

What a, sad story...

THE JESSE FIRE DISASTER OF SATURDAY 17TH OCTOBER, 1998 AND ITS AFTERMATH EFFECTS-- Dean Ojarikre Aganbi.

Today makes it 26 years after the tragic incidence of the Jesse fire disaster that occurred Saturday 17th October, 1998. A day I will never forget!

I was just 6 years and 37 days old boy then, living in Ajavwini community one of 32 villages that made up of the Idjerhe Kingdom (Jesse). As a child then I understand so many lives were lost to the pipeline explosion seeing people with various degrees of burnt. One of our neighbours whose house is behind our house lost two sons (names withheld) from one of his wives. One of them usually wears the masquerade mask on every Christmas Day Celebration to dance around Ajavwini. His death brought an end to that masquerade dancing crew.

This could have hits my family hard too if not for my late father that stopped my mom from going to scoop fuel. He ordered my mom to follow him to the farm. As a civil servant he only go to his farm during weekend. So they went to the farm and from the farm they saw the thick and black smoke up the sky and my father told my mom that his fears had happened. The smoke might be from bush burning, said my mom. And my dad reminded her of the heavy downpour in the morning so there was no way someone burning bush. That was how my disciplinarian father saved my mom from being a possible victim.

It was so bad that the then military head of State, Abdusalam Abubakar shedded tears when he visited the gory scene and ordered for necessary supports. Over 1000 lives were lost.

The pains, anxiety and sorrows from the aftermath effects is untold even till now. There were even stories of restless spirits moving about especially at nights. Some will even enter your motorcycle and later disappeared. Noises of crying and restless spirits from the direction of the incidence until mass burial was done for them and their remains buried in a single grave and chained.

May their souls continue to rest in peace 💔
