In the span of less than 12 hours, 200 Black refugees seeking asylum were rescued from the downtown streets of Toronto. Black Canadian Community leaders and Black-led organizations came together in a conference call to help organize the relocation of these asylum seekers who were left stranded outside of the homeless shelter at 129 Peter St., Toronto ON. A viral video from @brandongonezshow highlighting that the refugees had been on the streets for 4 weeks at that time caught the attention of many Black community leaders who quickly mobilized behind the scenes to see how they could help. The @honjeanaugustine along with Zanana Akande and @gwynchapman held a press conference after engaging politicians while Honourable Justice Mcleod contacted Pastor @judith_ra_james from @revivaltimetabernacle to arrange for accommodations and @mr.morgan2000 from @100strongca organized transportation. @blkopportunity ,@blacknorthca , @lovecleaning.gta and @rocco4toronto all jumped in as well and so many more, too many to name.
The CEO of Paramount Foods offered a donation of 20K, as seen on TV, in support of the Black leaders and organizers who were working feverishly behind the scenes taking massive action. All hands on deck. This is what community is all about. Everyone leveraging their networks, relationships, skills and abilities to help fellow human beings in need. Some asylum seekers fled their country because of their lifestyle, if openly known, puts them at risk of death. When the Canadian government opens its doors to refugees, they should ALL be accounted for and provided equal access to support. This is BLATANT DISCRIMINATION, ANTI-Black racism and xenophobia and it is unacceptable!
While the Canadian government is sorting out its priorities, the 200 refugees need support NOW.

🖤Black generational wealth potential,
🖤Black labour that was pillaged from us and most importantly,
🖤ALL the Black Lives ✊🏾that have been STOLEN through murders & through slavery.
As Black people lead many of the Human Rights & Social Justice movements, as we lock arms with:
✊🏾our Asian brothers & sisters in the fight to STOP Asian Hate,
✊🏾stand with our Indigenous brothers & sisters in solidarity against their genocide,
✊🏾catapult the “metoo” movement for Women and
✊🏾lead the movement to stop discrimination against our LGBTQ+… and Trans communities, sometimes we just have to go lay down when there is nothing left in us to fight for ourselves.
That’s when we need our allies 🤝to SHOW UP for US the way we CONSISTENTLY have been showing up for THEM😔.

Lupus and Kidney Disease Warrior Princess - Suzette England 💖
Suzette England is a bright & talented young woman who unfortunately suffers from (SLE) Systemic Lupus Erythematosus also known as Lupus disease. Compounding her battle with Lupus is also her battle with Kidney Disease.
She lives on the paradise like Island of Jamaica. Yet she is NOT experiencing a paradise like life at the moment. She struggles to afford and receive her weekly kidney dialysis treatments.
During these unprecedented times it has become even more challenging for Suzette to get access to the lifesaving care that she needs.
