With about 40 UNESCO world heritage sites, India is abundant with its rich and colourful heritage. Of tales that speak of our history and culture, places like these are truly a history buff's dream.

Today on 18th April, we celebrate World Heritage Day, and India, one of the world’s oldest civilizations, is a melting point of religions, traditions and customs. The fine Indian handiwork, the richness of silk and cotton textiles, the ethnicity of jewellery, the complexity of the architecture are facets our heritage.

From the Sun Temple at Konark to Hampi, the preciseness and details of the architecture truly makes me question whether our ancestors had superpowers to create an aesthetic beauty of such a kind. If we look at the architectural and engineering marvel of heritage sites like Ajanta Ellora caves or Belur-Halebeed temples, it signifies the knowledge about art, engineering, management construction, patience and perseverance of the people back then. Many such monuments back then took more than a 100 years to be built. Such caves and monuments are difficult to build even now, in 2022, despite technological and engineering advancements and expertise.
Our heritage is something to be absolutely proud of!
