“As soon as Slim and his goons enter the room the energy of the film completely shifts. The tension rises and Slim’s unpredictability takes over. One of the main things I told Chris Connell, the actor who plays Slim, was that Slim should take over the room as he feels like he is in control and owns everyone. He did a phenomenal job. Also Gerzan Chau, who was also the stunt coordinator, and Wayne Brezz really brought the energy when the action kicks in. I’ve always wanted to do an action/drama so here was my opportunity. Most definitely one of my favorite scenes in the film!”

“This scene is very special and dear to me. It’s two lost souls who have just met that are able to speak about what they are going through without judgement. They are both able to be vulnerable with each other. It’s not so much that they are falling in love but it’s about their connection and understanding on how difficult life can be. It’s moving through those dark times and seeing who is willing to support you in those times that can lead to processing the trauma and healing. Becoming a survivor. When we shot the scene it one of the statements from DP Esteban Valencia that stuck with me. It was providing a space for the actors to tell their stories in front of the camera without interruption. Hitting record and letting them be free to tell their story. It was very quiet on set that day and it was truly a magical experience to feel the energy in the room and watch Trenton and Jordan as actors go deep into the life’s of these characters.”

“The balcony talk. This is the scene that started it all. I was listening to an instrumental song by Hammock and I had this daydream of someone getting ready to take their life by jumping off a balcony and a deep sadness filled me and it felt like the character was reaching for someone so it made sense that someone in the room next door would help calm him down without actually knowing what he was about to do. The idea for the film was born from there. What if you met your soul mate at the moment of suicide? Filming it technically was quite an obstacle. Finding a hotel with balconies next door to each other was nearly impossible to find as I went location scouting many times driving around Houston looking up at the balconies on hotels. Nothing seem to fit or work. The solution came to find a Airbnb with a balcony and we built a balcony rail prop to split up the balcony to cheat what it would be like if hotel balconies were next to each other. Our DP Esteban Valencia @_valenciavisuals worked his magic to be able to light from above these actors very high off the ground on the balcony. @vonmakesfilms luckily didn’t have to deal with too much wind for audio either. The actual hotel room is a set we built in our studio @coldcreekproductions . We used lots of movie magic for this film and it was quite an adventure. Also the shots of the Houston skyline are beautiful and really captures the stillness and fullness of our city. This is my tribute to those long videos on YouTube with calming shots like these. These are two souls connecting in a place they never though they would. A chance meeting that will change their lives forever. “

“This dreamy scene wasn’t originally supposed to be in the film. After the third day of shooting I had went home and edited the prior scene and I felt like something was missing in the film and after discussing with @_valenciavisuals we were able to come up with this setup. That’s the beauty of passion projects like this the collaboration that happens within the production. Now these shots are some of my favorite in the film. The warmth from the sun glowing in to the hotel room as Tyler is speaking to his fiancé about his daily struggles and to see him sink into her embrace is truly a strong representation of a support system that people that struggle with mental health need. Just be present with them.”

“Shooting the hallway scene was particularly interesting as it was the last scene of the night on the third day of shooting. We weren’t able to lock in an actual hotel hallway so we settled for the hallway outside of an apartment Airbnb where we shot the balcony scene prior. It was close to midnight when we shot this scene and luckily we were able to shoot this scene rather quickly without bothering any of the neighbors. The only issue was the loud elevators down the hall. Actors @myjordanarylife and @david_ash14 did a great job really capturing the essence of this scene and what both the characters are currently going through. Also @_valenciavisuals was able to match the lighting of our hotel room set to match perfectly with this hallway. Love this scene!”
