12 members of the Outfest staff have requested voluntary recognition of their labour union, ***rfilmunited, part of . First the Board delayed, then they layed off 4 staff, and then they told the press that they would recognize the union but they haven't signed on the dotted line yet.
Yes, is a financially precarious non-profit that does a lot of work to support 2SLGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC filmmakers through it festival and its artist development programming. But these Outfest staff members have been part of the organization's backbone for countless years and deserve a more direct dialogue with the Board. We stand in solidarity with Q***r Film United!

As a senior staff member of Outfest, I 100% wholeheartedly support the unionizing efforts of ***rfilmunited . The concerns and goals outlined in their mission statement absolutely reflect my own. The members of QFU are the backbone of Outfest, and represent such admirable passion and commitment to serving LGBTQIA+ artists and audiences, and they deserve to work in an environment that healthily supports their valuable efforts.
Working in the non-profit sector is challenging on the best of days, but an ever-renewable source of joy is working with bright, inspired, dedicated colleagues like Gabi Grossman, Daniel Crooke, Hansen Bursic, Alex Gootter, and Martine McDonald. I’m devastated to lose them from the team. “Irreplaceable” doesn’t begin to cover it. I’m ever hopeful there’s a way back to repairing what we’ve lost, but I recognize this moment right now feels brutal and uncertain, I hope everyone will continue to lend their support to them, and to the QFU members still on staff at Outfest.

The global media landscape today is ripe for a studio to declaratively operate with a modus operandi to DECOLONIZE HOLLYWOOD.
Enter FAE PICTURES, a storytelling production company with a mandate to “Engage audiences with stories rooted in the perspectives of the Other.”
Loosely defined under the categories of LGBTQ+, people of color, women, and differently-abled people, the Other encompasses a community of storytellers and audiences that have been wholly underserved in the motion picture industry, and one that we seek to have a strong and integral relationship with.
Founded in 2017 in Los Angeles and Toronto, FAE PICTURES is committed to developing, producing, and delivering stories in a variety of mediums that impact the hearts and minds of audiences, while maximizing private investment through strategic packaging, government based incentives, and innovative storytelling practices.
