This is pure propaganda. It is a story about a hidden room within an Airbnb where the owner supposedly retreats while the property is being rented out. It's made to look like the guests uncover the owner hidden behind the bookcase.

FACT: This is an actor who's appeared in several skits of this nature, some on Airbnb's and others on neighbour disputes. He portrayed an owner and an Airbnb guest. Either way, the facts remain that this is NOT true, even though others would like you to believe it.

It would seem she has found some public groups where she doesn't need a fake account to view, after she was "kicked out" of multiple closed private groups.

Trish Burt's hypocrisy has no bounds. It's truly astounding.

She wants everyone to follow the rules, except for when they apply to her.

After the most serious of X (Twitter) suspensions for hate speech and vile posts on the Israeli / Palestine conflict. Nothing to do with Airbnb. The violation was so severe she was permanently banned from X Twitter, including opening new accounts.

Seems these rules don't apply to Trish Burt as she immediately opened another account under a new handle and continues to repost graphic images.

No wonder our policymakers, councils and government will no longer engage with her.

PS: For someone with so much hatred of Isreal and promotes not using Israeli products, maybe someone should ask her why she has her website hosted by WIX an Israeli company based in Tel Aviv Oh the hypocrisy Trish

Today we were questioned by the Executive Director of the STAAA (Short Term Accommodation Association Australia) Kieran Craig-Jones about our STRA advocacy and why we focus on Scotland and not the regulatory issues in our own states and territories.

Answer: Scotland has seen significant regulatory challenges and a licensing scheme that has devastated the country's visitor economy, especially in Edinburgh. We highlight this to show the importance and need for all Government's role in implementing regulatory frameworks that are proportionate, sensible and sustainable. In addition, Edinburgh has also had a very similar aggressive anti-Airbnb campaign on social media from similar extremist groups.

This page was set up to defend all Short Term Rental owners' rights to operate and expose the propaganda deliberately circulating opposing Airbnb and the STRA Industry. We are not here to give a running commentary on every state and territories regulatory processes. We comment on regulations when we feel anti-Airbnb groups are having an impact by circulating misleading propaganda. Despite the accusations that we only focus on Scotland and NSW, this is clearly not true.

Hope this clears any misunderstanding. Despite now ‘again’ being blocked by STAAA social accounts, our page remains open and transparent. Not a single person, FB page or FB group has been blocked or excluded from commenting here, although abusive and personally targeted posts will be deleted.

6 Months after new STRA licensing laws were introduced into Scotland, with some of the strictest planning laws promoted by the Government to solve the housing crisis, and reduce rents. The impacts are clear.

1. Long-term Rental prices have reached the highest levels in a decade surging 6.8%.
2. Hotel prices have surged, Edinburgh hotel prices soared by 9% on average with popular summer months 14-21%
3. There have been no positive impacts on housing, rental prices or supply.
4. Empty homes are now at their highest levels throughout Scotland showing second homes or holiday homes are not being returned to the housing market.
5. Edinburgh Council are in crisis talks over concerns of lack of accommodation during major events such as the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Planning exemptions are planned during events.
6. Hotels, without significant competition during a Taylor Swift Concert were found to be inflating hotel room prices by a staggering 84%

NSW Government take note: Regulatory frameworks need to be proportionate and sensible. Crackdowns of the STRA Industry is NOT the answer to solving the housing crisis and high rents.

SCOTLAND'S BOTCHED STR LAWS UNDER PRESSURE
The controversial laws introduced by the Scottish Government that claimed would return thousands of Holiday Lets to permanent rentals are again under pressure. Previously, figures show empty houses are at their highest after strict regulations were introduced showing, that second homes and holiday lets were not being put on the long-term rental market.

Now, the Scottish Government in crisis talks with the Edinburgh Council will allow 'STL planning exemptions' during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival due to concerns over a lack of accommodation.

Trish Burt has recently posted to her page about the permanent suspension of her X-Twitter account with claims of “censorship galore”. She claims the suspension was for hate speech.

From the comments on her page, it would seem that her supporters believe this suspension relates to her anti-Airbnb activity. I believe she clearly wants you to believe this.

We can now confirm and set the record straight on details she will NOT share on her page.
It is clear, that Trish wants you to believe her suspension was for her anti-Airbnb activism and she’ll claim it's the ‘cashed up operators’ in the STRA Industry influenced this decision.

Trish Burts's () Twitter account was permanently suspended for hateful conduct about the Israeli / Palestine conflict.

All the details below were 100% public and show the vile and disgraceful behaviour she has engaged in online in clear violation of the Twitter platform's rules.

She has consistently posted vile anti-Israeli remarks and references Israel to the N***s and the ‘One State Solution’ to remove Israel and create one state of Palestine.

Racial comments such as;

“how do you tell if a Jew is lying, their mouth is open”

“Can we all agree Israel must go”

“Israel = N***s”

“One State Solution - State of Palestine with Maps showing NO Tel Aviv as it stands today

She has persistently spammed Israeli and Zionist social media pages with flags that are hybrid Israeli and N**i flags and horrific graphic images of dead children hanging.

These are all clear violations on Twitter and she knows it. In one of the images below, Trish Burt actually dares X Twitter to suspend her account again for re-posting a graphic image of a dead girl. SHE DARED TWITTER TO SUSPEND HER ACCOUNT The image is so graphic I've blocked out the remains of the deceased girl for this page.

This suspension has nothing to do with us or our page, nothing to do with Airbnb, nothing to do with the STRA industry or housing activism.

Do you think this behaviour is acceptable? Even further, do you think it is not misleading to make her FB followers believe it’s about censorship of her Anti Airbnb activity?

Legitimate community groups can always positively impact public policy if they conduct themselves in the correct manner.

The NeighboursNotStrangers X account (former Twitter) has now been suspended for hateful conduct. Her previous account was suspended for 'abusive behaviour' Her online conduct has been nothing short of vile and disgraceful. Is this truly the actions of a person you want making representation to NSW Government ?

Ballina Cr Kiri Dicker lacks any real knowledge and understanding of the STRA industry.

Quote: "Obviously, they don’t want any regulation, it’s not in their financial interests," she said.

This is totally inaccurate and outright wrong. Cr Kiri Dicker should not mislead the community.

FACT: The STRA Industry has been advocating for a statewide regulatory framework that is proportionate, sensible and sustainable. The industry does not oppose regulations and has been proactive in engaging NSW Government. To say anything to the contrary is deliberately trying to fuel the anti-Airbnb extremist agenda and is misleading the local North Coast community.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING
It’s disappointing that this organisation has taken a low shot at another hard-working member-based association (ASTRA) for using a conference facility linked to a Hotel. We should all be working co-operatively together not against each other. Not sure what the agenda behind this post is?

We have for many decades worked hard to establish the STRA industry as a legitimate part of the accommodation mix within the tourism/visitor economy. We should not treat Hotels as the enemy or even our competition. As Hilton CEO Chris Nassetta once said about Airbnb “We co-exist quite well”Fact is, we co-exist in different markets with different products and services. No different to any other accommodation sector such as Camping, Bed&Breakfasts and Resorts. Each has its own markets but co-operatively contributes significantly to the visitor economy.

The vast majority of major conference facilities in capital cities are inherently linked to hotels. The peak body of camping, the Australian Camps Association held part of their event and farewell drinks at the Pullman Adelaide. Next month, the Canadian STR industry will meet at an official Airbnb-sponsored event at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. Even Airbnb sees no issue using world-class conference facilities linked to a major hotel AND Fairmont Banff would seem to have no problem taking a conference booking as an official Airbnb event supporting the STRA Industry.

If the message is “DO NOT SUPPORT STRA CONFERENCES BEING HOSTED IN HOTELS” then this is actually in opposition to Airbnb sanctioned or sponsored events.

Unfortunately, posts like this only look to create division. I have no issues with STRAAA or ASTRA - Australian Short Term Rental Association. I am always happy to work cooperatively with any industry partner. I am always happy to work cooperatively with any industry partner. Still, I find myself now questioning the real agenda behind this post and if this organisation could ever be a united voice for our industry? Interesting.

This is why we continue to highlight misleading information being distributed via extremist groups.

FACT: Rob Stokes did NOT single-handedly change state legislation. Whilst Ministerial discretion can be used by Ministers, the decision culminated from almost 4 years of an extensive consultation process with stakeholders, Government Departments and reputable community groups.

To say the changes to the SEPP were single-handedly made is misleading without any context to the process.

Jenny, short-term rentals existed long before Airbnb. Your Byron Shire didn't just rely on hotels and motels.

Short-term rentals have been a huge part of your visitor economy for many decades. Most likely before you arrived.
