Before I was born, my mother read to me while I was in the womb.

Before I took my first breath. my mother was preparing the next book she was going to read to me after my birth.

Before I spoke my first word, my mother had shown it to me in a book.

Before I could walk, she walked me through parks, danced me through Ballrooms, and took me ice skating in some of the finest Coliseum's. She did this through the books she brought to life through the joyful, passionate and loving way that only a mother could.

Before I entered the doors of the University I engulfed myself in my Etymology class. My Mother saw the sparks in my eyes and knew then, that her days of actively teaching me the power of reading, was done.

I've always been an avid reader and I support it in every respect.

Thank you Mother for teaching me to read. I followed your same literacy steps with my children, and they, with theirs. What a legacy you are leaving the jewels of my life.

Thank you Dean Tolson for working tirelessly to bring literacy to as many hearts and minds of the youth as possible. May you receive all the financial support necessary to fulfill your Dreams of bringing literacy to as many as possible.

I had the most horrifying experience a few nights ago! (Continued)

This is a follow-up to the "Tarantula" experience.

I arrived at my neighbors house and they did not hear the doorbell ringing. I rang the doorbell dozens of times but to no avail.

Disheartened I sat on the plant wall and contemplated my next move. That is when I realized I didn't have any shoes on. Shoes were the least of my concerns until I stepped on the broken walnut shell.

It was then that I had no choice but to return home and sleep outside on the chairs next to the pool.

BUT.... when I arrived home my upstairs neighbors light was on and I ran up to his apartment as fast as I could to catch him before he went to sleep. By his look when he opened the door, I think he was already sleep and just forgot to turn the light off.

He immediately knew something was wrong and when I explained the situation he said he would be right down to help me.

"Help me"???? There was no way I was going to help him catch that "Tarantula" It was as big as my hand!

He came right down to my apartment armed with a broom, grocery bag, and trash can. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting him to bring with him but it was more along the lines of a G***k 40 (as Jim Gish suggested), a large canister of Oleoresin Capsicum, two Gas Masks, Fang Proof Elbow length gloves, and a large shovel.

Once in the apartment he thoroughly started going through everything in the area where I saw it. Then he asked me a series of questions: Where did I first see it? What direction did it move? Where did it take its first jump? What direction did it jump? How high did it jump? And several other questions.

He then smiled at me and said the unimaginable.

"It isn't a Tarantula. It's a Frog."

WHAT???

Based on the answers I gave to his questions he concluded it was a frog. There was no way that thing that ran sideways on my wall at lightning speed and then jumped at me was a frog!

He continued his search through EVERYTHING and then out of nowhere something jumped on my leg and I SCREAMED BLOODY MURDER (and couldn't stop) and there went my super comfy Bedsure Cotton Waffle Blanket. I was HORRIFIED!

My neighbor kept his eyes on it as it darted into the kitchen.

After I calmed down and made sure that I was okay he laughed
and said it was a little frog and that they can spread their legs out as big as my hand when they run and jump. He also explained that they can run and jump sideways on walls.

I had pet frogs as a child and never have I seen one run along and or sit, and or jump, sideways on a wall.

My neighbor is WONDERFUL! I am SO happy it wasn't a Tarantula.

A friend told me yesterday that they love how much I always have something bright yellow on.

I was a little surprised because the only clothing I have worn with yellow in it this year is this dress and a yellow scarf that I wear on occasion.

I smiled because the dress is so amazingly versatile that he doesn’t know I’m wearing the same dress but wearing it differently every time he sees me.

I helped some friends clean their homes a few days ago and everyone was making comments about me going to clean with my pretty maxi dress on. When we arrived to start cleaning I quickly changed my dress into a knee length jumpsuit without even taking it off and started cleaning 😃.

When we were done, I quickly switched it back into a maxi dress.

I love this dress It is over 20 years old and I have worn it over 100 different ways.
