Guess what?! A new episode is here and our good friend is back to talk about his new EP ‘The Art of Grief’. 👍

Yup, just a light topic there, right? This Columbus-based muso and Jess chat about the grief of lost dreams, lost loved ones, and what it means to destruct or deconstruct through the process. 🤯

This one will get you right in the feels (do the kids even say that any more?). 🤷🏻‍♀️

So what’s next? He’s venturing into Gospel music, with the cinematic album The Gospel According to Mark featuring narration by Gloria Gaynor.  Which is …you guessed it, a creative retelling of the Biblical book of Mark. 🙌

He chats to Jess about the incredible artists who partnered with him on this project, his journey back to faith as an adult, and why he believes Christian music needs to reflect the harder parts of the human experience.

It has been a heart breaking week in Christian music as Gabe Patillo and Mandisa left this life for the next. We didn’t have the privilege of knowing these amazing artists, but what we do know is that they were beacons of hope, kindness, authenticity and joy. We are all better for their influence and the mark they left on the world. There aren’t words to properly fathom the grief so many are feeling right now - we hold you up in prayer and send our love. We are so heartbroken for the family and many friends of these beloved people ❤️

Friends, do we have a treat for you! In this bumper episode with we chat with and 🙌 For five decades, these two creatives have shaped music, art and culture in Nashville and beyond. Pushing Christian art (or art made by Christians) out of the box, the Ashworth’s new book “Why Everything That Doesn’t Matter, Matters So Much,” is an honest, wise and perceptive must-read for creatives.

Whether you know this couple from any of Charlie’s 72 releases or production based works (yes really, and that doesn’t even count the jazz albums), from Andi’s books, or from their time running The Art House Nashville, this episode will empower and fill you in the best way.❤️‍🔥

Charlie may also include special announcement for fans of Amy Grant’s Heart In Motion album (which he took part in) at the end of this episode, so be sure to hang around for the full chat!

Happy release day to and 🎉 Their new book “Why Everything That Doesn’t Matter, Matters So Much – The Way of Love in a World of Hurt” is out now.

Jess had the chance to pre read and review this book for and please trust us when we say it is crucial reading. Part memoir, part life lessons, part creative guide and part theological thought piece - this is like a homing beacon for the many of us who long to feel at home at the table of God, but don’t always feel like we fit into the cultural norms or commoditized standards of evangelical culture.

Read the review now via the link in bio 🔗 Thankyou for this honest and faithful offering Andi and Charlie, it is a gift.

Get out your dance shoes and get moving, because on our new episode we have Jamison Statema of Go Fish with us!🤘🐠

This award winning muso has made music since ‘95, and is known for making the Bible accessible to kids. So how the heck did he become the spokeperson for a crisis help line?

Jess chats to Jamison about the work with TheHopeLine.com and what led a kid’s musician to the therapist’s room and then advocacy.

This is a fun and meaningful conversation friends, and we are so excited for its potential to resource musicians as they better support fans. Listen now on Apple, Spotify and all major podcast providers.

Have you caught our latest episode with yet?! We kick off a new season with this amazing music collective from Tucson Arizona. 🌄

Not only does this group cross denominations and churches in the area, but every release features different musicians and singers allowing them to hone in on different cultures, topics and better express God’s heart for the city.

Jess chats to executive director and muso Brian Goodall, and musician Mike Almeroth about the album Volume Five - chronicling a journey through repentance, confession and reconciliation. They reflect on how the First Nations people or the area communicated God’s ability to cleanse and heal, something echoed by the prophet Ezekiel and now shared in their music.

This conversation is so good, and if you’re looking for worship music that goes beyond predictable and safe then you will love the gravity and musicality of this team.

Them: Christian music is weird.

Us: You’re not wrong 😶

Once upon a time, Christian album art was…interesting. Believe it or not, we actually vetted some of the more naively inappropriate ones. 🫡 Any other dynamite covers from the 80s or 90s we need to see? Rich Mullins album feat. a doggo is obviously top of our list 🔥

You don’t write a worship song to create a hit - you write it to communicate the truth about who God is. There a weighty-ness to the craft of writing a worship track that is easy to lose when we see worship as a genre or industry. But it’s not that - or it shouldn’t be anyway. Thanks for this reminder ✨💚

Tiffany Hudson could be Christian music's best kept secret - until now. Because this Grammy award winning songwriter ("Graves Into Gardens" anyone?) has released a solo record. Sounds like the path to success right? Except this was never Tiffany's plan. Jess chats to Tiffany about her album "Hidden Here," sharing your heart as a soloist, and the weight of creating theologically sound worship music.

What would happen if musicians talked about the things that hurt, healed and changed us in Evangelical culture?

Between You & Me is a podcast for music makers to have real talk – where honest conversations make way for healing, hope and common ground.

Musicians with a Christian faith, and those in the Christian Music Industry, straddle the line between faith and business, artistry and disillusionment. It redefines their view of God and changes the way they make music. But it also leaves them balancing issues few worship songs ever sing about: mental illness, grief, creative blocks, substance abuse, s*x and the redefinition or loss of faith.

Between You & Me is an invitation for music makers to open up about what really matters to them. Hosted by music journalist Jessica Morris, it is raw, unfiltered, and honest. These are the stories of the people who write the soundtracks to our lives — no holds barred.
