Founded in Lansing, MI, UGF Entertainment was original formed in 1997 as UnderGround Family Entertainment. In 2001 the company was incorporated at UGF Entertainment. That same year UGF entered the online world, securing deals with just a few stores, to sell the companies physical music. In 2003 UGF entered the digital world, providing distribution to 300 + digital stores, through its digital deal

with The Orchard and physical deal with Alliance Entertainment Corp. Over the years UGF would secure deals with Raptor Entertainment Group, CED/LGN, Select-O-Hits, Sony RED and Bayside. By 2009 UGF Entertainment had secured deals with most of the stores it's disttributors had in their network. This same year UGF Entertainment stepped out on its own and formed UGF Digital to provide distribution from artists and labels around the world. Powered by UGF Entertainment and Sony/The Orchard, UGF's distribution network now includes over 750 stores worldwide.
