THE VERY DIFFICULT LIFE OF PEUHLS-FOULBÉS RETURNEES IN IPPY
By Mathias Lambert l LNC
According to figures from the Commission mouvement des populations, the Ouaka prefecture will have more than 48,300 displaced persons by May 2024.
And IPPY, the capital of OUAKA, is certainly the city with the most refugees, with 4 camps, plus a Sudanese camp - a record in the Central African Republic.
Some are staying with host families, others on sites. Of particular interest is a camp for a thousand returnees on the outskirts of the town of Ippy, set up in 2019.
In this camp,
They're usually nomads, but they've lost everything: no oxen, no stores, no fields,
And the camp is in dire straits. Without MINUSCA collars and aid, they'd starve to death.
There's not even a school to keep the children occupied.
