Wrapping up the 2023 West-Eastern Divan Orchestra tour in Salzburg and Berlin: Last Thursday, Peral Music founder Daniel Barenboim led the Orchestra and soloist Igor levit in a performance at the Salzburger Festspiele | Salzburg Festival, continuing a more than decade-long Divan tradition. On Saturday evening, Daniel Barenboim, Igor levit, and the Divan performed at the Waldbühne Berlin, offering a program of Beethoven and Brahms at the incredible outdoor venue.

Next up, Daniel Barenboim and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra return to Pierre Boulez Saal on August 26 & 27, performing Mozart's last three symphonies as part of Barenboim-Said Akademie's Edward W. Said Days 2023.

This past weekend, the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra began its 2023 summer tour, performing a program of Brahms and Beethoven at the Kölner Philharmonie. The performance marked the first ever performance of Peral Music founder Daniel Barenboim and Igor levit.

🔔 TOUR UPDATE from the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra: Martha Argerich unfortunately had to cancel all her performances of this summer's tour due to health reasons. The pianist had hoped for a quick recovery after having to step back from participating in the concerts in Cologne and Lucerne last week. In her place, Igor Levit will be taking on the solo part in Ludwig van Beethoven's First Piano Concerto. We're sending our best wishes for Martha Argerich's speedy recovery and we're truly thankful to Igor Levit for stepping in on such short notice.

Earlier this week, Peral Music founder Daniel Barenboim was greeted with long applause and a standing ovation after a concert with the Filarmonica della Scala (Teatro alla Scala). The concert included two of Schubert’s later symphonies, Symphony No 8, “Unfinished” and Symphony 9, “The Great.”

The Salzburger Festspiele | Salzburg Festival’s 2023 Whitsun edition came to an end with a special gala performance honoring Peral Music founder Daniel Barenboim, with proceeds from the concert donated to the Daniel Barenboim Foundation.

The concert featured performances from Zubin Mehta and the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, as well as Cecilia Bartoli, Lang Lang - 郎朗, Martha Argerich, Placido Domingo, SONYA YONCHEVA, and Rolando Villazón.

Today Peral Music founder Daniel Barenboim was named an honorary citizen of Berlin in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the city's cultural landscape.

Mayor Franziska Giffey said that Barenboim “demonstrates incomparable mastery both at the grand piano and at the conductor’s stand,” telling Barenboim that "as an artist and as a person, you are truly a figure of the century.”

On Tuesday night, Pierre Boulez Saal hosted a special concert benefiting UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe, the German partner organization of UNHCR. Led by Michael Barenboim, members of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra performed works by Webern and Mozart, before being joined by Peral Music founder Daniel Barenboim, in an unannounced surprise appearance, for Schumann's Piano Quintet.
