I took this shot of Gillian Welch at The Green River Festival in 2004. She and David Rawlings played two sold-out shows at the Iron Horse in Northampton this week. Peter Andersen and I were fortunate to attend the second show on Thursday night. What a great show with a mix of older songs, new songs from an album to be released in August, and as they said 'a few songs newer than new songs'. Something I really enjoyed about the concert was that over two hours and many songs, they never once said "This song is about...". They put the songs out there with amazing talent and feeling, and let the music speak. It was nice to catch up with friends Gerriann Butler and Jim Olsen at The Horse!

That's us on the cupola of the Crane Mansion (50+ rooms, 29,000 sq. ft.). Crane Beach is over to the right, and the Grand Allee is to the left. That's a 40 yard wide by half mile long greenway to the ocean with man-made hills simulating ocean waves. Toilets, sinks, and tubs sure made the Crane family a ton of money back in the day!

I had a quick trip to Williamstown on Friday. The ancient gargoyle gate sure looks different with the 'new' football field house located behind it now and not just grass. All that remains of the old field house across the street is what's left of the indoor surface, including the track (Mt. Prospect in the distance).

We must have a very relaxing yard. Two days ago this fox took a nap for about an hour in the far corner of the yard. Just following the lead, I guess, of the coyote back in 2014 that was catching rays on a late winter day, and the bear a couple of years ago that was wondering why we didn't have an Adirondack chair ready for it.
