Yesterday I briefly mentioned the US Women’s Soccer Team at the end of the equal pay video but I wanted to stitch this video I made about the women’s team from last year explaining why they are specifically relevant to the discussion surrounding equal pay. #womenshistorymonth #equalpay #womeninsports #uswomenssoccer
#equalpay for equal is still being fought for across genders, races, industries and countries. Within our lifetime this could possibly change but we still have a ways to go. #womenempowerment #womenshistorymonth #taraji
An integral part of women’s history and women’s rights are voting rights. So let’s talk about it! #womenshistorymonth #womensupportingwomen #womenssuffragemovement #19thamendment #votingrights #susanbanthony
We saw the Black Panther movie and the cultural impact it had but today I want highlight the Black Panther Party and how their efforts to uplift the community are still felt to this day. #blackhistorymonth #blackhistory #blackpantherparty #americanhistory #education
If you want to understand anti-colonialism and decolonization I recommend starting with #frantzfanon who was an incredible psychiatrist and philosopher who changed the field of psychiatry for the better by directly challenging the systems of oppression that were often the root cause of mental health struggles occurring then and now. #mentalhealthmatters #blackhistorymonth #blackhistory #education #algeria #psychiatry
#happybirthday to the late great Rep. John Lewis who’s legacy of getting into good trouble changed America for the better. May we all find the courage to make our world better by challenging ourselves and those around us to be a part of the good trouble that pushes us all forward to a more just and equitable society. What good trouble will you be a part of today? 😉 #goodtrouble #johnlewis #mlk #blackhistory #blackhistorymonth #civilrightsmovement #americanhistory
60 seconds was hardly enough to cover Mandela’s legacy and all that he did for this world but I sure tried. The arch of the moral universe bends towards justice and though it maybe slow, progress is inevitable. Mandela serves as the continually reminder to fight for justice. We are in tough times but I implore everyone to remember his words: “Remember hope is a powerful 🔫 even when all else is lost.” Because, after all, “It always seems impossible until its done.” ❤️ #motivationmonday #nelsonmandela #southafrica #blackhistory #blackhistorymonth #education #presidentsday
Today we honor the memory of a man who audaciously stood up to Western powers to help transform the Congo from a Belgian colony to a republic. Patrice Lumumba was the greatest hope for the Congo and although his life was cut short his legacy lives on. His tooth was the only thing buried because that was the only remain left of him post-☠️ because they destroyed his being. #patricelumumba #blackhistorymonth #FreeCongo #education #blackhistory #europeanhistory
The diner would go onto become a history museum celebrating the students who challenged authority to ensure progress. Part of the diner is actually now in the #smithsonianmuseum with four seats there. I am forever in awe of the people who paved the way for the progress we are able to contine today.#bhm #blackhistorymonth #greensboro #americanhistory #education #civilrightsmovement
*She thought it was Mardi Gras due to the way people were shouting and throwing things. There wasn’t enough time in this video to do it justice because everything Ms. Bridges went through at six-years-old was terrifying but she endured it with the help of those around her. We owe a debt to Ms. Bridges that can never be paid and that, as of writing this, she is only 69 years old is a reminder that the history that so many people want Black people to move past is not that long ago. #bhm #blackhistorymonth #civilrightsmovement #rubybridges #education #louisiana #childrenareourfuture
There was not enough time in this video to list all of her accomplishments and give her all the flowers she deserves. But this video and this series in general continuously remind me that our ancestors did far more with way less and that shoulders we stand on paved the way for our success. 🥹❤️ #bethunecookman #marymcleodbethune #blackhistorymonth #education #americanhistory

HBCUs are an integral part of American history and the advancement of Black Americans. Today we’re shining a light on one of the first institutions that made #blackexcellence possible. #tuskegeeuniversity #bookertwashington #hbcu #bhm #blackhistorymonth #tuskegeeairmen #americanhistory #EducationMatters
Thank you to the #tuskegeeairmen for learning to fly to help us all soar. Also thank you to the men from the #caribbean who joined the ranks to make success possible. #afrolatino #blackhistorymonth #aviation #airforce
This happened back in August but I didn’t realize I never posted it to Facebook. Since it’s Black history month I figured it was a good time to bring it back to the timeline. By now yall have heard of the #alabamabrawl or #montgomerymelee and the absolute chaos that insued. You’ve also probably seen all the #foldingchair memes that have taken the internet by storm. In all this excitement a picture of #lewislatimer has been circulating the internet and being confused for #nathanielalexander who developed a separate folding chair than the original inventor John Cram. In this video let’s learn more about Lewis Latimer and his many contributions to science. #blackhistory #STEM #engineer

The 1963 Birmingham Children’s Crusade helped regalvanize America’s Civil Rights Movement that would lead to the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Happy belated birthday to Jackie Robinson who’s bravery, character, and undeniable talent helped break the color barrier in sports. He was also posthumously awarded both the Congressional Gold Medal and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The MLB also honors him annually on April 15th for Jackie Robinson Day! #jackierobinson #42 #brooklyndodgers #mlb #bhm #education #blackhistory #sportsperformance #blackhistorymonth
