A final statement:
This isn't the update I want to be writing, but here we are. As of now, the FBC podcast is dead. The reasons are many, but they can pretty much all be boiled down to creative differences and availability. For those of you wishing for some kind of juicy drama post, this isn't it. I'm not going to go into the things I don't know, so I'll instead focus on the things I do know.
At the end of 2021, I stepped away from the podcast for personal reasons. I just didn't have the mental bandwidth to manage editing a show, booking guests, posting episodes, and trying to keep up with social media. I handed over control of the brand to Yaramarud. This included the website, the social media accounts, and the Patreon account. I took myself out of that sphere of influence completely so I could focus on the things I needed to get done in my personal life. Those things are not resolved yet, but they are well on their way to being taken care of.
In August, Yara and I started talking about bringing the show back. We were starting to work on episode ideas and a new format for the show. However, Yara's life became busy around this time, and planning stalled. Around this time, I became more active in the Discord server again and--after discussing with Yara--agreed to essentially take over the administrative side of the Discord server while Yara dealt with his life.
During this time, the moderation team and I discussed the possibility of pruning down the channels in the Discord server to make moderation easier. Bear in mind that our mod team was essentially 6 people. The decision was made to prune down to about 6 active channels in the Discord server. The plan was always to assess our situation after 2 weeks and begin adding channels back as we deemed necessary.
After we culled the channel bloat, a lot of people left the server(which we expected, but not to that degree). The server slowed down quite a bit. I made the decision to reset all server invites and begin publishing new invite links every week. This system was working well to w**d out bad faith actors and keep our server as a safe place for our community.
On October 29th, I woke up to find out that the discord server had been deleted. The only person who had the ability to do so is Yaramarud. when I asked him about this, he expressed frustration that I had made such sweeping changes to the Discord server.
As of this moment, our working relationship is over.
I apologize to those of you who have been supporting the show over the last year via Patreon. I was not involved with the continued billing of our Patreon. However, I do still have access to the account, so as of yesterday I have indefinitely suspended all billing cycles to our Patreon page.
I want to thank everyone who has supported our show through the years. This isn't how I wanted it to end, but nothing lasts forever.
