If while washing dishes, we think only of the cup of tea that awaits us, thus hurrying to get the dishes out of the way as if they were a nuisance, then we are not “washing the dishes to wash the dishes.” What’s more, we are not alive during the time we are washing the dishes. In fact we are completely incapable of realizing the miracle of life while standing at the sink. If we can’t wash the dishes, the chances are we won’t be able to drink our tea either. While drinking the cup of tea, we will only be thinking of other things, barely aware of the cup in our hands. Thus we are sucked away into the future—and we are incapable of actually living one minute of life. ~Thich Nhat Hanh

Loneliness isn’t the physical absence of other people, it’s the sense that you’re not sharing anything that matters with anyone else. If you have lots of people around you - perhaps even a husband or wife, or a family, or a busy workplace - but you don’t share anything that matters with them, then you’ll still be lonely. ~Johann Hari

Promise Yourself

To be so strong that nothing
can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity
to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel
that there is something in them
To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best,
and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others
as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past
and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times
and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side
so long as you are true to the best that is in you. ~Christian D. Larson

"Poetry without truth, is like a rose without thorns.
Still pretty,
But sometimes the real beauty comes from the things that can make us bleed."

Why is love never associated with pain?

In love, we discover the true meaning of being selfless. We become giving, forgiving and caring. This is when we experience joy in love. This joy sometimes ends when our expectations are not met.

When we do something, even for our loved ones, we often expect a return from them. Be it their love, trust or just appreciation, when our love is not reciprocated as expected, happiness turns into pain, and our hearts break.

Love with all your heart, but don't expect the other person to do the same. It may seem difficult, but once you understand, feel and follow the selfless path, you will find the true meaning of love and free yourself from pain.

Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours. ~Hermann Hesse

You're not the first person who was ever confused and frightened and even sickened by human behavior. You're by no means alone on that score. Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You'll learn from them—if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It's a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn't education. It's history. It's poetry. ~J.D. Salinger

You think you cannot live anymore.
You think that the light of your soul has been put out and that you will stay in the dark forever.
But when you are engulfed by such solid darkness, when you have both eyes closed to the world, a third eye opens in your heart.

And only then do you come to realize that eyesight conflicts with inner knowledge.
No eye sees so clear and sharp as the eye of love. After grief comes another season, another valley, another you.
And the lover who is nowhere to be found, you start to see everywhere.
You see him in the drop of water that falls into the ocean, in the high tide that follows the waxing of the moon, or in the morning wind that spreads its fresh smell, or in your throbbing vein.

How can you say Shams is gone when he is everywhere and in everything ?

🤍Live your life grounded in the Truth within your heart.

🤍The old saying, "The truth will set you free" is real.

🤍You will have nothing to hide or fear when you speak truthfully and kindly.

Knowledge can be communicated, but not wisdom. One can find it, live it, be fortified by it, do wonders through it, but one cannot communicate and teach it. ~Hermann Hesse

We absolutely must leave room for doubt or there is no progress and there is no learning. There is no learning without having to pose a question. And a question requires doubt. People search for certainty. But there is no certainty. People are terrified — 'how can you live and not know?'
It is not odd at all. You only think you know, as a matter of fact. And most of your actions are based on incomplete knowledge and you really don't know what it is all about, or what the purpose of the world is, or know a great deal of other things. It is possible to live and not know. ~Richard P. Feynman
