Taking the stage with undeniable energy, he captivated both the live audience and viewers at home with a dynamic performance of ‘Beautiful Things’—complete with his signature backflips.

Unlike many other musicians his age, Boone’s introduction to music was unconventional. The Washington state-native wasn’t classically trained and didn’t aspire to be a musician when he was younger, he didn’t even realize he could sing until a few years ago.

Shortly after discovering his new talent, Boone entered the infamous singing competition American Idol. But he ultimately decided to leave the show to pursue his career on his own terms. In a new film titled ‘Plainclothes,’ premiering today at Sundance Film Festival, Lucas (played by ) portrays an undercover cop tasked with entrapping gay men for public indecency. His mission takes a complicated turn when he develops feelings for Andrew, played by , a closeted man caught in the sting operation.

“When you see the film, there are some quite graphic moments,” Tovey explained to VMAN.com describing the film’s intimate scenes. “It was like a dance—a choreography and a poetry—in how the intimacy was directed.”
