It’s been a good year for NYC-based musician Harrison Smith — better known as .
The success of 2023’s ‘The Sex’ EP not only caught the attention of the sweetheart of the summer, (resulting in the raunchy, ravey track, “Guess” and a massive Boiler Room set in Ibiza), but it also led to Smith’s debut album, titled ‘What’s Wrong With New York?’—finally released today!

It’s official! (.a) has been announced as the new Creative Director of !
With the news of the appointment arriving on the first day of NYFW, the fashion house has also announced that Ackermann will oversee all fashion categories, including menswear, womenswear, accessories, and eyewear, and guide the creative vision overall, with his first collection set to debut at Paris Fashion Week in March 2025.
“It is with tremendous pride that I will seek to honor the legacy of Tom Ford, a man I have long admired and have the utmost respect for,” said Ackermann. “I am much looking forward to what lies ahead.” as the house’s founder Tom Ford notes, “I have long been a great fan of Haider’s work. I find both his womenswear and menswear equally compelling. He is an incredible colorist, his tailoring is sharp, and above all he is modern. We share many of the same historical references, and I could not be more excited to see what he does with the brand. I suspect that I will be the first on my feet to applaud after his show in March.”

Upon the release of his latest and highly-celebrated film, , director, writer, and image-maker shared some behind-the-scenes imagery for our latest issue, VMAN 53, and wrote about meeting his muse and the film’s star, the mesmerizing .
“I first met Charlie Plummer in 2018 on the set of a photo shoot I was doing for VMAN. His calm, soulful energy inspired me—he seemed wise beyond his 18 years. We bonded over a mutual love for cinema as the sun was setting over the Pacific Ocean,” he explains inside the pages of our fall/winter 2024 issue. “That same year, I had started writing my first feature film screenplay, National Anthem. As I was writing, I wanted to offer up a more modern and nuanced version of the classic American cowboy for today’s world.”

| For Matthew Mazur (), a NYC-based part Peruvian, part Polish stylist and DJ, it’s always been known that for many Latinx people, gatherings and celebrations of life are in-grained interests.
His expansive iTunes library and beloved aux-cord antics at college parties while growing up in the concrete jungle later awarded him a resident DJ spot at Avenue, a now-defunct nightclub in Chelsea, which he was connected to by a friend who was a host there at the time. “I started DJing faking it till I made it. I didn’t know how to set up, how to use the buttons. I would watch people, have my notes app,” recounts Mazur inside the pages of VMAN 53. “I was scrappy like that. People who are marginalized in any way have that sensibility.”

| Born and raised in Miami, Florida, was introduced to the infamous South Florida rave scene at an early age and developed his own sound by intertwining his Jamaican roots with electronic music’s foundations in dub reggae. Moving to New York catalyzed his entry into the nightlife and artistic communities that had previously been locked behind the alluring screen of social media.
“With DJing, anything can be a sample at the hands of the turntable. You can press loop and play the sound over and over again, or blend it into something else. There are so many ways to go about it. It’s kind of incredible,” he explains to VMAN when discussing his debut album, ‘Notes To Self’—as seen in the pages of VMAN 53, our new fall/winter issue.

For VMAN 53 cover star .sessa, going from a student actor one day and then finding himself on the set of an Alexander Payne film with actors Paul Giamatti and Da’vine Joy Randolph (before the film gets nominated for five Oscars), the young actor has already experienced the upsides of a fast rise in the business, but how has his life changed from going zero to sixty in the blink of an eye?
“I don’t think my life has changed that much. I mean, I still live with my mom and it’s not like I’ve bought anything cool,” he explains to VMAN’s . “I’m just really obsessed with the fact that I’m able to be acting all the time. I understood that a lot of people really liked ‘The Holdovers’ and it’s really overwhelming, and flattering in so many ways but it was a question on my mind, like, how fast after that am I gonna be able to get back on set and be doing another movie?”

Though fits snugly into the category of “overnight superstar,” his success was anything but overnight. Rather, it took well over a decade for the 29-year-old’s career luck to turn around, despite heaps of blood, sweat, and tears shed along the way. After spending almost a decade auditioning without much success, the VMAN 53 cover star moved to New York City, nearly 3,500 miles from home, to attend acting school—and the rest is history.
“I was already kind of trying to be an actor without much success, just auditioning a lot and not getting many jobs,” he explains to VMAN’s . “I knew I wanted to go to drama school, and Juilliard had always been top of the list, but it kind of felt like a pipe dream. So then I decided to audition for a drama school one more time, a ‘go big or go home’ kind of thing. And then I wound up going to New York, and I haven’t looked back since.”

VMAN 53 cover star ()’s acting career began at the age of eight when the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company cast him in a role coveted by all little boys who like musicals: Gavroche in Les Miserables. Fast forward several years (and even a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his work in the gender-swapped revival of Company) later, Bailey is still a theater nerd at heart.
This made his upcoming role as Fiyero in the movie adaptation of the Broadway hit, , all the more unbelievable to him. As seen inside the pages of our fall/winter issue, in conversation with co-star and music sensation , Bailey admits that he’s only recently had the space to fangirl over the reality that he’s playing the lead in a musical that rocked his world when he first saw it at the age of 15, saying “It’s a complete dream come true. The preparation started when I listened to the soundtrack when I was like 15. And I remember viscerally; it sent ripples through culture. My best friend from school, me and him went to go and see it together, and it was so funny that two lads just went with it. I think the themes of Wicked have probably expanded, and that’s what I’m really excited about with the film.”

“I was captivated by the fact that acting allowed me to gain perspective into the various characters in the different roles I was able to play,” @bogummy explains to VMAN on what drew him to acting. “It was also intriguing because you are able to learn something new as you prepare to play a character.
