New York City House Music Record Labels in the 90’s. Always severe but friendly competition. Somehow the big track spotlight just knew to give everyone a moment of shine. Once a label had the big track…..then it was up to them how far they took it. Promoters and label owners often crossing paths in the dj booth, record stores, and sometimes awkwardly in the studio if a hot producer would call a few of us at the same time just to see who showed up. Great feeling on Wednesday nights at Sound Factory Bar if Louie rocked your test pressing to big response; horrible feeling when cleaning out your demo drawer and then seeing a handwritten scrawl of a tune that blew up for somebody else and you realize you could have had it if you just listened to the demo (don’t even ask which one….still makes us crazy to think about it!) I think of all these great brands we’re still the only one going at it as hard as ever on the new release tip. Does not make us any better…just a matter of life choice. Indie Record Label Life is all consuming. Still the best feeling in the world when you get a hot one…but at the same time there is a big world out there. Maybe one day we’ll look into it. For now still all about HOUSE! 😬😎
