The year was 1998. Titanic became the highest-grossing film of all time and picked up an Oscar on the way. Seventy-seven-year-old Senator John Glenn, the first American to orbit the earth, returned to orbit in the space shuttle Discovery. The federal debt reached a record $3.8 trillion. And the first issue of a magazine featuring Missouri travel destinations rolled off the press.
