Episode 189: Business is a Job
Are you bored?
Is it even okay to be bored?
If you’re like me or a lot of the people I work with, you’ve probably felt guilty for getting bored in your business. For dreading certain tasks, viewing your business as work, or not feeling lit up all the time.
But maybe that’s okay.
Maybe it’s okay to allow your business to feel like a, dare I say it, job.
Maybe everything you’ve been told about work not being work if you love it is actually just not true.
Imagine not thinking about your business 24/7.
Imagine taking weekends off.
Imagine starting your work day and ending your work day at a certain time every day.
Yes, I said ending your work day.
Unfathomable, right?
You think about your business all the time. You’re constantly coming up with ideas. You’re regularly scrolling through social media to increase your engagement. You’re always wondering how your clients are doing.
But, what if you stopped? What if you walked away from work physically and mentally? What if after dinner you enjoyed your evening instead of checking back in on work?
In this week’s episode I’m telling you what my life looks like now that I’m viewing my business as a job.
Tune in so you can reimagine your relationship with your business and take back your life.
Episode 182: Developmental Trauma with Fanny Priest
What is standing in your way?
When you're a small business owner, a solopreneur, your success lies entirely on your shoulders. God forbid you connect with your competition! That will take work away from you. Right?
Wrong.
It isn't until you start to view your "competition" as your community that you see true success.
The people who are meant to work with you, will work with you. There is a reason I've been talking about attraction marketing communications so much lately. It’s your job to show your future clients that they are meant to work with you. And it is your job to show people who are not meant to work with you that they are not. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to refer them to someone who you know would be a great fit?
So what's standing in your way? Why do you feel so disconnected?
This week on the podcast I have the pleasure of chatting with Fanny Priest, developmental trauma repair and self-trust coach. Fanny walks you through the role trauma may be playing in holding back your success.
Tune in so you can walk away ready to break down the disconnect and find success in community.
Episode 170: Hard Work vs. Hustle
Did you think this would be easier?
Do you ever question whether you are made to be a business owner or whether you should give up on your dreams because the daily grind of your 9-5 was easier than this?
Building a business is not easy and I wish internet ads would stop promising people passive income with zero effort!
If our dreams are valuable, they are worthy of our time, attention, and focus. They are worthy of hard work.
That does NOT mean that they require us to run ourselves ragged and stretch ourselves too thin.
How do you tell the difference? That's exactly what I'm covering this week on the podcast.
Join us this week to learn the difference between valuable work that requires periods of intense effort from a hustle mindset that leaves you feeling drained, guilty, and overwhelmed.
Episode 168: The Truth About Money
Money isn't evil!
Money is a tool that humans created to facilitate exchange of goods and services. It wasn't created by capitalism and it isn't a finite resource. But just because it's a tool, doesn't make it neutral.
Money is power. It gives its holders access to physical and social resources. To say that money is neutral is to say that its impact is neutral. Losing access to resources isn't neutral.
So, what does this mean for those of us who are trying to run ethical or spiritual businesses? How do we engage with money in a way that is honest, accountable, and doesn't feel like crap?
Most entrepreneurs I work with need help with their relationship to money. If we think money is bad, we aren't going to do a very good job of earning it. But if we buy into the popular belief that money is this "neutral energy" that can flow in and out of our lives based on how we are "vibing", then we are not accepting or being accountable to the power it gives us.
So this week on the podcast, I'm sharing the mindset that has helped me learn to run a business according to my values while still providing the income I need to care for myself.
Join me this week for three steps to reevaluating your relationship to money and the power it gives you.
Episode 162: High-End Offers That Sell
Are you looking for a way to make money fast so you can fund your work?
I love membership programs, scalable offers, and accessibility. But when I need to make quick money so I can have more time to work on those lower priced offers, I shift to higher ticketed services.
Are you a one-on-one service provider?
Do you like to personalize and customize each customer's unique experience?
Do you want to provide more support and depth to your customers, but you can't afford to at the price of your current offers?
Do you need to focus your time and energy on building out that scalable offer, but you also need to pay your bills?
High-end offers give your customers an opportunity to have more access to you, more customized support, and, frankly, more value.
But you can't just raise the price of your one-on-one work and call it a day.
This week on the podcast, I'm teaching you how to create a high-end offer that has value, sells, and doesn't leave your customers feeling cheated.
Episode 160: Business Bottlenecks
Are you ready to throw in the towel?
Exasperated by your customers? Frustrated with your employees? Find yourself avoiding work or putting off tasks? Do you feel like you are shooting your own business in the foot?
WAIT!
Before you burn it all to the ground. Before you fire your employees or close your business, consider this:
Feelings of exasperation, avoidance, and dread are indicators of a bottleneck. The bad news? A significant bottleneck is enough to make anyone want to quit their job. The GREAT news? It is a super fixable problem!
A bottleneck is not an indicator of personal shortcomings or destined failure. It is an operational, organizational, and/or communication issue.
Bottlenecks are not just the woes of giant corporations with several departments and hundreds of employees clocking in for a daily grind. Small businesses and even solo entrepreneurs have them too! A bottleneck is anything that disrupts the flow of activity in a business and that can happen on ANY level, even in a small holistic business.
Tune in this week to learn to identify a bottleneck and some simple solutions for the top three types.
