Metal On Metal Records For more info and contact, go to our website! This label is for those who keep the old metal spirit alive.

Classic heavy, US power, traditional and epic doom, speed, thrash, black/thrash and some death metal... MOMR is a label focused on all OLD SCHOOL styles of metal! Check our website (www.metalonmetalrecords.com) for the most complete info about our bands and releases and for listening to the music. You can buy all our releases directly from us - the SHOP is on our website. Also (bands/musicians, RE

AD this before contacting us or "liking" us... 'cause most probably we will NOT like you)... This is a METAL label, as the name indicates...

So: NO nu "metal", NO hardcore, NO mallcore (or any "core" for that matter), NO groovy modern tough-guy s**t, NO screamo, NO emo, NO alternative, NO post-anything, NO goth, NO glam, NO industrial, NO grind, NO ambient, NO drone, NO sludge, NO grunge, NO funk, or other styles that MTV and mainstream media try to sell as metal, but either have nothing or almost nothing to do with real metal. If you play any of the aforementioned styles and you still waste your and our time writing to us, well, you're showing you're dumb. And also "NO, thanks" to: Euro "power" metal (read: happy metal where keyboards are more important than guitars... we like only US style power metal), most black (especially symphonic... we like only the 1st wave of BM and bands that play in this raw '80s style, so if Venom, Hellhammer and Celtic Frost are your main influences, feel free to contact us) and death metal (especially brutal death metal... we like only classic old school stuff in the vein of Unleashed, Death, Asphyx, Autopsy...).

⚔️ What is best in life? ⚔️

Here's what François (vocals) had to say about Solstitium 's first single and video "The Cimmerian":
"It's the first song that Sebastien (guitars) played to me back in 2022, when he was just starting to gather some material and was still searching for a singer. The song instantly captivated me and I had a great time putting my vocals on top of it. It perfectly embodies what SOLSTITIUM is all about and it felt like a perfect first track to unveil. The video shoot was just as epic as the song... It contains flaming braziers, a bloodstained sword, metal statues catching fire and evil looking dudes in leather jackets playing fierce epic doom metal in the night with relentless energy and great passion. Crank up the volume, bang your head and DOOM ON!!!"

SOLSTITIUM "Morgoth" to be out on July 25, 2024 on Metal On Metal Records. Find out more about the band: https://metalonmetalrecords.com/bands/solstitiumFoll...

Band signing announcement #4.

Last but definitely not least, we're stoked to announce that the Croatian epic doom metal band ELUSIVE GOD has joined our roster. We've been big fans of their music from the start, so when they wrote to us a couple of months ago, sending their latest work, we didn't have to think twice.

The upcoming album of this band formed in 2018 is a continuation of the style they have already made themselves known for: pure epic doom metal in the vein of the greats like CANDLEMASS and SOLITUDE AETURNUS, but with a particular similarity to one newer doom metal purveyors EVANGELIST thanks to the vocals (which some compared also to Bruce Dickinson and Warrel Dane). However, there's one significant difference and change that you will notice on their second full-length titled "Ambis", scheduled for an early October release: the album is sung entirely in their native tongue, Croatian. While this might be a barrier to some, it lends to the special character to their music, which they like to describe as Croatian Metal sound. No matter if this claim has merit or not, it's an undeniable fact that they shine on their, admittedly very small, local metal scene like a bright star, but they have already conquered the hearts of many doomheads and metalheads outside of their borders as well, not only with their previous releases, but also with their live shows (including a gig at the Doom Over Vienna festival and at Satan Klaus Fest in Czech Republic).

The band commented:
"We are devoted fans of traditional metal and we never hesitated to emphasize that. MoMR's moto is "Old school metal or no metal at all" and that's one of the main reasons why we instantly clicked. It's a label led by devoted metal fans, releasing music for passionate metal fans. We were familiar with their work and they were already fans of Elusive God. Long story short - our cooperation was bound to happen sooner or later. We're glad to be a part of the MoMR's story because we need a label that believes in our music and our artistic vision. Their dedication to metal music is truly remarkable.
Let's keep the metal faith alive."

Earlier this year, ELUSIVE GOD released an official video for "Ples Demona" ("Dance of the Demons"), a song off their upcoming album, on the NWOTHM Full Albums YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3REuoV5qiig&list=PLnWdyIrNmyvXU1MYFSE_G7iNPVp_Bt-cl

Band signing announcement #3.

What do you get when you mix THUNDERSTORM and EPITAPH, two seminal Italian doom metal bands? Only few people have known so far, but we're here to change that. We are beyond excited to announce that IV SIGILLO (pronounced in Italian as QUARTO SIGILLO, meaning the Fourth Seal) have joined Metal on Metal Records family.

Hailing from northern Italy (Lombardy and Veneto regions), this band is exactly what you can imagine as the result of a union between the rhythm section from the now sadly disbanded semi-legendary epic doom metal trio THUNDERSTORM (founded in the early '90s and boasting five strong albums in their discography) and the (former) vocalist of EPITAPH. The line-up is completed by a guitarist from a heavy/speed metal act MENACE. When they contacted us, introducing the band, we couldn't have clicked any faster on the link to download their debut album, having been big fans of both bands for years (and also knowing them personally)! And it didn't leave our player for a long, long time. For us, their music is the very essence of the revered Italian doom metal style that is like no other, the style which has this special aura of weirdness, occult, mystery and old horror movies, often described as the "Dark Sound". Traditional, but also obscure, esoteric and eccentric with those quirky vocals of Emiliano, their debut album "Quarto Sigillo" will be out this October, at the Keep It True Rising festival.

The band stated:
"The Seal is almost broken, foul Energies and Sendings of Despair are now seeping through: we struck a deal with illustrious label Metal on Metal Records, which is due to release Quarto Sigillo's eponymous album later this year. What could possibly be better than signing with a label whose catalog is preeminently present in our own heavy metal collections (we do appreciate and admire several of MOMR artists and albums)? And whose esteemed managers we've grown to know - personally - as stalwart connoisseurs of all things heavy and gloomy?
Now, on to more nefarious acts!"

To get a taste of their sound, check this video teaser on the band's YouTube channel, where you can find also three live clips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBTlIRIGv3k&list=UULFpaudGBCcUes0DnkI0RVRzA

Band signing announcement #2.

What a great surprise it was to receive an e-mail from a musician from a band we've worked with in the past, that has been long-time inactive! Well, that band (STONEGRIFF) is unfortunately still on hiatus, however, when we heard the album, we would have thought it's the third full-length of STONEGRIFF, if we hadn't been told otherwise.

We are therefore extremely happy to announce the signing of DREAD OGRE, featuring two ex-members of STONEGRIFF: Jacob Kramsjö (vocals and guitars) and Michael Lang (bass), as well as the drummer of GRAND MAGUS and SPIRITUAL BEGGARS, Ludwig Witt. This Swedish traditional doom metal trio is sure to please not only the STONEGRIFF fans, but also fans of GRAND MAGUS, KRUX, BLACK SABBATH, CANDLEMASS, PENTAGRAM, SPIRITUS MORTIS, IRON MAN and the like. They keep it simple and effective, with huge, molten riffs, thundering drums and charismatic, sinister sounding vocals. Their album's "replay" factor is especially strong with just 37 minutes playing time. "Get Ready for the Storm" was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by the legendary Andy LaRocque, and will be out next week, at the Headbangers Open Air festival.

Here's what the band had to say:
"We are very proud to announce that Metal on Metal have signed us and will release our debut album "Get Ready for the Storm"! Having recorded an album you are very proud of and believe strongly in makes you careful when approaching labels. We could not have found a better label than Metal on Metal. A label that stands for true uncompromised metal, and nothing but metal."

DREAD OGRE put a short video teaser featuring a fragment of the title track on their page: https://www.facebook.com/61560787962756/videos/477251938389259/ (go give them a Like/follow them too!).

We will release "Get Ready for the Storm" on July 25th on CD, Bandcamp and all relevant digital platforms. Stay tuned for more details, three new songs and pre-order information in the coming days.

Band signing announcement #1.

We are elated to introduce the first of the four bands that have recently joined our roster. When this new group from northeastern France submitted their debut album to us this spring, we were so impressed by it, we replied right away and kept listening to it on repeat for days as if our lives depended on it.

SOLSTITIUM play an incredible mix of epic heavy and doom metal with doom/death, and have made every song truly stand out with varying proportions of each style. We have to say we're very picky when it comes to doom/death (or death/doom) genre, finding most bands playing it rather lame and boring, but this band is the polar opposite with a wide range of tempos, moods, killer metal riffs, crushing sound, and both growls and clean vocals absolutely nailing it. As they themselves wrote, "picture a jam session between GRAND MAGUS, CELTIC FROST and BOLT THROWER with early '90s PARADISE LOST for good measure, and it will give you an idea of what SOLSTITIUM is about." We agree and would add also RUNEMAGICK, early MY DYING BRIDE, IRONSWORD, epic era BATHORY and ATLANTEAN KODEX to this list. And it's no wonder how mature and developed their debut album sounds, considering that all musicians involved have played in several other bands for many years. "Morgoth" will be out next week, at the Headbangers Open Air festival.

The band commented:
"We are beyond excited to tell you that SOLSTITIUM has signed a deal with the almighty Metal on Metal! We couldn’t think of a better suited label to team us with. Jowita and Simone share our burning love and passion for old school and traditional metal and perfectly understand what SOLSTITIUM is all about. We are stoked and raise our horns to celebrate the start of what will hopefully be a long and fruitful collaboration!"

SOLSTITIUM teamed up with Hastro Production to film a video clip for "The Cimmerian", which you can watch on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4m1GWpsC9s

"Morgoth" will be be available on July 25th on CD, Bandcamp and on all relevant digital platforms. Keep an eye out for the pre-order launch in a few days, when two new songs (including another video clip) will be published and more album details will be revealed.

DOOM SHALL RISE!
Our newsletter subscribers got the news earlier today, but now it's time to share it here.
We're thrilled to announce the signing of 4 amazing bands. All of them happen to play doom metal, but very different from each other. One thing they all have in common are crushing METAL riffs and awesome vocals. You can see (hear) that for yourselves from the music samples (including 2 official video clips) featured in the news. So if you are not a fan of the genre, we especially strongly suggest you check them out because at least one of them may change your mind. :)
So, head on to our website to read about them! For your convenience, we put direct links to the news in the comment section below.
In the next days, we'll be introducing them here one by one, so keep your eyes peeled!

Ten days after our vacation in Portugal (more about it below), we're in Germany again at DER DETZE ROCKT festival. Over 1000 km to drive, but totally worth it as they've assembled a stellar billing once more: TRIUMPH OF DEATH (playing HELLHAMMER, of course), ASPHYX, WHIPLASH, BÜTCHER, RIOT CITY, OLD, CENTURY, LUCIFUGE, just to mention a few we're looking forward to seeing the most.

As for Portugal, those two weeks were awesome and a healthy change from our usual sedentary life - after whole days of walking, I didn't have time and energy to stay in front of my laptop, not even to check FB or post anything. We didn't get to see any shows unfortunately, but we saw many great places and met with four musicians from two of our bands (HELLSPIKE and ELS FOCS NEGRES). We started in Porto, from where we drove south through Coimbra, Tomar (the Templar city with the most impressive Convento do Cristo and castle ruins), Evora (where we had to go to the Chapel of Bones), Beja (mostly to meet José known as Zellpike in HELLSPIKE) to the beautiful Algarve coast with fantastic rock formations - we'd need at least a week to explore and enjoy it fully, so we hope to come back there, also to hang out more with EFN guitarist Hugo Conim (one of his other bands may soon join MOMR :) ). And, for the last five days, we went to Lisbon where we didn't visit the most touristy places (we did that in 2016 already), but walked a lot in the city, went to the amazing Quinta da Regaleira and also had a dinner with Rick (Hellspike, Els Focs Negres and others) and Monsenyor Belathauzer (vocalist of EFN who is also in FILII NIGRANTIUM INFERNALIUM together with Rick).

All in all, it was a true vacation, which means we had to catch up with a lot of work after coming back home, but in the meantime we got an application from another killer doom metal band (this one from Croatia) which we accepted in an instant as we've been fans of them already (and their new album is a masterpiece). We should be able to announce them together with the other three (or maybe even four) new bands at the end of the next week, but it may take a bit longer. Keep your eyes peeled!

And speaking of our Portuguese bands again, have you seen the recent video of ELS FOCS NEGRES for "Martirs de la Creu"? YouTube decided to age-restrict it (or somebody got offended and reported it), so you can't watch it if you're not signed in, and even if you are, it still gives you a warning that it may be inappropriate, probably for violent content. Check it from the link in the comment!

Let's see if this posts reaches a few people, unlike the one from yesterday with the link and a tag... The video link is in the comment.

We're waiting for the special lyric video that is being made for one new IN AEVUM AGERE song, but in the meantime, enjoy this one - and you can follow the lyrics here! 👇
It's the last track from the 3rd album of this epic doom metal band directly inspired by Dante's "Divine Comedy" (mostly the Inferno part).

THE MOUNTAIN OF PURGATORY

Searching for the sun beyond the storm
Leaving behind a sea so cruel
Of that kingdom I sing
Where all the souls purge themselves from sin
Of a kindest place where dead poetry here rise again

Sapphire blue sky, first lights of dawn filled me heart
Out of dead air, which had with sadness filled my breast
The beauteous planet that brings to all love
Lights shine after darkness of infernal realm
And I saw four stars that no one had yet seen

Near I saw an old man alone
Worthy of great reverence in his look
“Who are you? Ye who have fled away
From the eternal prison, who guided you?”

I’m here to save him from sin, a lady from heaven descended
He’s alive in search of spirituality
Permit us pass through thy seven reigns, the land of purification
He can see the souls redeeming themselves

Go, then, and see thou gird this one
With a smooth rush, and wash his face
So, you cleanse away all dirt from it
Showing like that to the first angel will bring disgrace

It was almost dawn
The trembling of the sea
On my face he laid his hands
We came then upon the desert coast, a shore where the humble plants grow
Covered with great humility
We passed while the day was on, among the penitent souls
Forgiveness of their grave sins
Pain that purifies the soul with the hope of redemption
They will see the light of eternity

One week ago at the KEEP IT TRUE Festival with our friends, Cheryl (WITCHES BREW) and Marco, at whose place we were staying for the last 5 days.

It was such a great weekend, as always at KIT. Meeting many friends from all around the world was definitely the highlight of the event, and from the bands we have seen at least a few songs of, we enjoyed mostly LIEGE LORD (amazing show and performance - just as expected from these guys), BULLDOZER (even though unfortunately the sound wasn't good), SENTRY (Manilla Road's spirit lives on!), GRAVE DIGGER (the best GD show I have seen - Chris sang well and seemed to really enjoy it), STORMWITCH (it was great to hear some of their classics live), MORGUL BLADE (cool mix of heavy metal with a bit more extreme vocals - it works well for us), SAVAGE OATH (pure old school US heavy metal), TAROT (these Aussie guys recreate the '70s hard rock sound mixed with a bit of early heavy metal perfectly), SACRED WARRIOR (a band completely unknown to us until we listened to them right before the festival and decided to check them live too as they play really solid Queensryche-style progressive heavy/power) and BLEAK HOUSE (one of the best obscure NWOBHM bands). Unfortunately, we didn't manage to make it in time for the warm-up show, which is a shame as we wanted to see Acero Letal, Century and Attacker.

Thank you to Oliver Weinsheimer and the entire KIT crew for making this such a perfectly run event!
We can't wait for the next year's edition when we, the merchants, will be back in the hall! I can't even say how happy we both are for this "back to the roots" move because when selling in the tent outside, we missed too many bands since 2017.
Last, but not least, big thanks to everybody who stopped by our merch table and bought something - you made it worthwhile for us!

And now we're on our way to Switzerland - we spontaneously decided to go to Starlett Stock - Hard 'n' Heavy Festival when we saw the flyer one week ago. Luckily, it's pretty much on our way back home and almost exactly mid-way too. We're looking forward to seeing GLACIER, SIN STARLETT, THRILLER and KONQUEST most of all, but we'll definitely check also Animalize, Küenring and Firmament.
Mega thanks to Elias for the invitation and offering us a table for selling at this event!

It's Bandcamp Friday again (already the 40th one!) - a great day to head on to this website and support your favourite bands and labels. :)
We've got a new album, released just a week ago:

The Italian epic doom metal scholars IN AEVUM AGERE return as a trio again with their 4th full-length, "Darkness, Then Light". They take us back to hell once more, concluding their trilogy based on Dante's Inferno part of his magnum opus, "Divine Comedy". Prepare for a harrowing voyage alongside Dante and Virgil, an immersive and evocative homage to the source material that echoes the lamentations of the damned. Band mastermind Bruno Masulli has further honed the art of composing multi-layered guitar harmonies and shred-intensive solos, while his commanding, powerful and clear baritone voice elevates the music far above average. Expect a wide spectrum of moods as the melodic and slower elegiac, epic passages are occasionally punctuated by aggressive outbursts of rage in the rhythm section, adding a touch of thrash metal urgency. This album is for all those who crave the sound of classic CANDLEMASS, SOLITUDE AETURNUS, BELOW, SORCERER, MEMENTO MORI, FORSAKEN, EVANGELIST, PROCESSION, THUNDERSTORM and CRYPT SERMON.

A year after and four days after the release of the debut album, the US heavy metal powerhouse Kingdom of Tyrants (featuring members of MELIAH RAGE and STEEL ASSASSIN) release a video for their eponymous song.

The band stated:
"The song "Kingdom of Tyrants" represents the historic influence of world powers and the conflict and strife amongst warring nations. The music was written by Mike Mooney and the lyrics by Kevin Curran. The video was produced by friend and long-time collaborator Rudy Childs, along with video artist Julius Johnson, with creative input by Kevin Curran, Stuart Dowie and Mike Munro.
We are proud to continue fueling the creative machine that is Kingdom of Tyrants, and look forward to summer and fall performances in 2024. It is a privilege to be part of a group of musician-friends that share common goals, aspirations, and a passion for true metal."

It's time to reveal the songs from and all the details about our next release: IN AEVUM AGERE "Darkness, Then Light"... Any fans here? Any fans of epic doom metal and also of impressive guitar shredding who don't know this band yet?

Finishing the work on the last details before we can reveal the info about and a few songs from our upcoming release IN AEVUM AGERE "Darkness, Then Light" - the orders should be open tomorrow. But rest assured: you can expect another epic doom metal masterpiece from these Italians, and yes, it's their third one directly inspired by Dante's Inferno!

We're looking forward to the KEEP IT TRUE festival this weekend, meeting with many friends from all around the world and seeing some of the bands (mostly Bulldozer, Liege Lord and Sentry, to mention just the top three).

But ugh, the weather forecast says it will be really cold - even to 1°C below zero (!!!) on Thursday night... 🥶 And this is the very first time (for me in 20 years!) that we haven't rented an apartment for KIT, but decided to sleep in our van on the grounds instead. Cool, but not so cool. 😁😂

06/04/2024

What needs to happen to kick me out of my Facebook avoidance? Well, good news. And not just one but two pieces of good news in one day! Two amazingly talented bands who had contacted us some time ago and with whom we exchanged several e-mails wrote today that they'd love to work with us. This really made my day twofold! :)

For now I have to zip my lip though, not only because the contracts still have to be signed, but also because we want to properly introduce both of these bands (which includes preparing pages for them on our website) because their names are brand new, even though some of you might be fans of the other bands these musicians are or were involved in. I can only say that both of them play a variety of doom metal, very different from each other (epic doom/death and Italian heavy dark sound doom).

And a couple of days ago I got yet another exciting e-mail from a new band which is fronted by one of the best vocalists who used to be in a band we worked with (but unfortunately disbanded). Their style? Traditional doom metal!

Considering that our first release this year is going to be an album by an epic doom metal band (and there will be at least one, but maybe two more doom releases to come out in 2024), I think we should officially change the label's name to DOOM ON DOOM. :D

05/03/2024

It's been quiet here on our page, but definitely not quiet at our headquarters. Recently it's been mostly a new masterpiece by In Aevum Agere spinning in our player. It will be among our late April releases planned for the KIT festival. There are more CD releases in the plans from bands we've already worked with, but we've been also contacted by several awesome bands who may soon join our roster.

As much as we personally care only about physical releases (for our collection), we obviously understand why many people moved away from collecting CDs to buying digital formats or to just streaming. It's more portable, it doesn't take space in your house and of course you can have much more for much less. So those of you who collect albums as 1s and 0s, please support us and your favourite bands especially on BANDCAMP Fridays - one of them is today! :)

Metal On Metal Records is a label focused on OLD SCHOOL styles of metal: classic heavy, US power, thrash, speed, traditional doom, NWOBHM, black/thrash and some death metal. The idea to start a record label was born in late 2007 and brought to life in 2008. We value quality over quantity, so there a...

With this new year, we'd like to say a big THANK YOU to all of you who supported us and our bands in 2023, either by buying the music and merch, reviewing their releases, interviewing them, giving them airplay, going to their shows, booking them for their event, as well as inviting us to your festivals! It really means a lot.

Despite the hard times and rising costs of manufacturing and living in general, we haven't raised our prices for CDs (since the very beginning, that is since 2008) and don't plan to do it this year either - we hope that you will appreciate it and order more stuff directly from us instead of places like Amazon, from which we get close to zero. And if your financial situation doesn't allow buying music anymore, simple online support in the form of interacting with our (and our bands') posts is also very much appreciated.

We promise we'll bring you more quality Metal this year and we wish all our supporters as well as our bands and all personal friends a prosperous, healthy and overall great 2024!

Here's a photo of us at the last festival we attended in 2023: the awesome Thrash Nightmare in Pisek, Czech Republic. The true spirit of the underground metal is very much alive there (I'm sure this applies also to the other event by the same organizers, Heavy Metal Thunder). We really enjoyed our time there, also because of how relaxing this festival is - starting late with only 6-7 bands per day, thanks to which we had the time to get enough of sleep and then to appreciate the really nice town, go on a shopping spree in second-hand shops and stuff ourselves with some great Czech food.
As for the bands, we enjoyed especially the shows of WHIPLASH (despite having seen them once before, this gig was somehow at the very height of emotion for me, with constant headbanging while I was not taking photos and my very first stage dive when they played "Stage Dive", yeah, I know, hard to believe, but better late than never and there's no better song for that!), METALUCIFER (second time within a week, but always so much fun to see Gezol and co.!), WITCHBURNER (it was the second time within two months last year seeing my old friends on stage - they're a true Teutonic thrashing force!), DEATH STRIKE (it was awesome to see Paul Speckmann again after his great show with Master at MetalHart festival in early September), OLD (a new black/thrash discovery for us - their last CD is added to our collection!), SCHIZOPHRENIA (very talented young guys from Belgium playing death/thrash) and OMEN at the warm-up show (their epic metal hymns are immortal, but we do miss George Call's vocals, even though the new guy is not bad at all - and they have a really great bass player now).
So, very special thanks to Petr Kolář for the invitation (and yes, I'm finally preparing the promised photos!).
