(12)

In The United States, the hours of 9 to 5 are considered to be a full days work. Depending on if that work is fulfilling is undeniably directly correlated to human happiness. We all hope and strive for our jobs to be fulfilling and ultimately bring us the greatest of happiness. When we get off work (whether we love it or hate it) we find ourselves wanting to relax. Whether this be over a cold beer

at a local bar downtown, going to see the newest flick, exercising, or going out to see live music with friends, this is where we can rest and enjoy life's offerings. A city, growing at the speed of Charleston, SC is undoubtedly bringing in more talented artists as well as the exponential rent increases each year. How do we balance this? The reality of the matter is that it's tough to keep up financially. We do what we can by packing on other jobs. But, what is important to remember is that these are stepping stones to get us to where we want to be. With the support and encouragement from our community and the 9 to 5 team, maybe we CAN make our 9 to 5's into what we wish for it to be. So in the meantime, let's share the stories, get to know each other a bit better, and continue to support and collaborate with one another. After all this is what makes Charleston, SC such a wonderful place to be an artist.

Lofi Brewing and Extra Chill have teamed up to host an unforgettable send off party for 2021, An Extra Chill New Years Eve. The lineup features a stacked bill of Charleston artists, including Brave Baby giving their first live performance since 2019, Human Resources, Slim S.O.U.L & The Psycodelics, Tennis Courts, and Aggie Flores.

The event will also feature a night market curated by Charleston-based vintage clothing vendor The Almighty Apparel, visual art installations from New Paradigm Productions, a local food vendor serving up delicious eats (TBA), and delicious craft beers on tap.

In addition to their reputation for excellent beer, Lofi Brewing has emerged as one of the premiere live music venues in Charleston in recent times, with a rotating cast of local and touring artists taking their stage on a weekly basis. An Extra Chill New Years Eve comes on the heels of a recent overhaul to the stage and sound system that brings the concert experience at the brewery to the next level.

Baby Yaga has just released their 2nd EP, "I'll Ruin Your Life," on all streaming platforms. Their signature 90s sound remains despite the gritty, punk rock departure from their first pop release, "F**k." The songwriting centers around the disillusionment that comes with growing up and trying to find one's place in the world, relationships, and oneself.

Since their genesis in 2018, Baby Yaga has been awarded 2020 Rock Band of the Year by Charleston City Paper and has shared the stage with Susto at the famous 40 Watt in Athens, GA. Their most recent show was at The Royal American with Secret Guest and Dear Blanca. Lead singer and songwriter Presley Randall moved to Asheville, NC in August and hopes to continue the band there. Also featured on this EP is Brett Nash of Secret Guest on guitar, Alex Brouwer of Inn Vinegar on drums, and Gee Peralta on bass.
